Our amazing youth hard at work on a little surprise for our Mothers this coming Sunday! Be sure to come see us in the plaza after the Sunday Masses for doughnuts and a token of our appreciation for all those following in Mother Mary's footsteps!

Hey everyone, long time no see! My name is Anthony and I have been the Youth Minister here at St. Timothy's since September 2021. It has taken me a while, but the Youth Ministry page is finally back in action, and to celebrate I am sharing the first issue of our new newsletter! Please feel free to check it out and see what we have been up to this past Lenten season. 😃

Being a ā€œgood personā€ is not our ticket into Heaven. We can’t earn it and somehow save ourselves. We make it Home by acknowledging Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, repenting of our sins, and doing His will. God loves us so much He has literally done everything possible and given us every resource via the Church, to fall into Heaven... not into Hell. But with the free will we’ve been given, we can either say yes or no to God.

If there is serious sin on your conscience, I urge you to be reconciled to God. Run back to the sacrament of confession where the mercy of Jesus welcomes us unconditionally. This is the sign you’ve been looking for. Go. You don’t know the day nor the hour you’ll meet the Lord face to face. There’s nothing more important than to live this life in a way that is pleasing to God and to die in a state of grace. I know this message isn’t fun, but I’m posting it because I love you enough to say it. I’d much rather see you in Heaven than get likes.

ā€œGod in the beginning created human beings and made them subject to their own free choice. If you choose, you can keep the commandments; loyalty is doing the will of God. Set before you are fire and water; to whatever you choose, stretch out your hand. Before everyone are life and death, whichever they choose will be given them.ā€ + Sirach 15:14-17

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus commissions the twelve Apostles. Perhaps we can see here a fulfillment of his prophetic invitation to the first disciples: ā€œCome after me and I will make you fishers of men.ā€

ā€œCome after me.ā€ This is a Hebraicism that indicates discipleship. Jesus is not offering a doctrine, a theology, or a set of beliefs. He is offering himself. He’s saying, ā€œWalk in my path; enter into the world that I have opened up.ā€

ā€œAnd I will make you fishers of men.ā€ This is one of the best lines in Scripture. Notice the first part of the phrase: ā€œI will make you.ā€ God is the one who makes us from nothing. To live in sin is to live outside of the creative power of God, to pretend that we can make ourselves. How wonderful that he tells us that he will make us!

And what he makes us is always a reflection of himself: a fisher of men. God wants to draw all things and all people into a community around him, in him. He is a fisher of people—and so wants us to be.
