It's not too late to offer a life changing experience to your students this summer!
(and hey Bethany members--if you think finances might be a barrier please talk to Pastor Lily! We would love to help send your student to camp.)
Hey folks.
Amanda here, Fortune Lake Camp Director, currently wearing my parent-of-four hat. For many of our families, summer days are upon us, and we’re in the early stages of helping our children to navigate looser schedules and more free time. If you’re like me, you’re hoping for some of the following for your kiddos this summer:
☀️ More outside time and less screentime
🎨 More creativity and less absorbing curated content
👍 More affirming adults and fewer influencers
🩵 More real-life relationships and less social isolation
🌱 More personal growth and less following the crowd
🏃🏾More physical movement and less sitting still
And, if you’re like me, perhaps your kiddos need encouragement to move toward these hopes. Likely a lot of these things can and will happen at home, especially with intention. But, I know it takes a team to help shape my kiddos into the humans God wants them to be. This is where summer camp comes in! At Fortune Lake, you can expect the following:
☀️ Full days spent in God’s good Creation
🎨 Creativity integrated everywhere: from arts-n-crafts projects to talent show skits to freeplay
👍 Young adult staff who have been thoroughly background checked and trained to provide a safe, nurturing experience; they love kids, and they are excellent role models!
🩵At camp we learn to live together, differences and all; we work through the tough stuff and come out better
🌱Experiential learning is what we do all day through campfire cooking, worship leading, recreational activities, caring for our shared spaces, and interactive Bible study components
🏃🏾Non-competitive group games using “challenge by choice” allow everyone to participate at the level they prefer
Perhaps you’d thought about summer camp, but in the hecticness that is Maycember, time got away from you. The good news is that there is still room in almost all of the Fortune Lake programs, with 3-night and 5-night options for youth completed grades 1-12. We even have 4-day day camp experiences at camp and in many communities throughout the region. Or, if you’d prefer to come camp as a family, there are intergenerational programs for all ages!
It’s not too late to help your kids experience all that you had hoped they would this summer, and we’re here to help. Fortune Lake strives to be a site that is truly welcoming to all, regardless of church affiliation, and we have room for YOU! Grace & Peace to you, this summer and always,
Amanda Rasner (she/her), Camp Director
