Better Is A Little Comparing and contrasting is a reading skill that brings out meaning for greater understanding. Today’s passage makes a comparison telling us a little of life’s treasure and the fear of the Lord is different than great treasure with the trouble it brings. If we believe that the fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshipping Him in awe, then we experience a better life. Who doesn’t want a good life? On the other side of this proverb we find great treasure that brings trouble with it. Could it be the fear of losing it all that is trouble? Perhaps, the great treasure is what Solomon laboured for, sought after, and was troubled about. He realized that it was all vanity. Read Ecclesiastes 12:13 and find his conclusion to the comparison. Prayer: Father, You own everything and I am a steward of your riches you have allowed me to receive. Help me to be faithful and thankful for the blessings You have provided. In Jesus' name, Amen.

🤠Tonight 6:30🤠Men’s Bible Study🤠 Come join us fellas🤠

A Long Day We all have had those days when we return home and we are exhausted, mentally fatigued, and empty. Jesus had confronted the Jews, scribes, Pharisees, a pr******te, extreme misunderstanding and hatred. He was accused of having a demon. He wanted the believing Jews to abide in His Word, be His disciples, know the truth, and be set free. Is that too much to expect? Evidently, it was for the unbelieving Jews. As we follow the dialogue in this event, we find the Son God rejected and reasoning was falling on “deaf” ears. Wouldn’t it be great that we would have ears ready to listen and hearts ready to receive Jesus’ message? Prayer: Jesus, I am ready to listen to You and allow Your Words to speak to my heart. I want to keep Your Word so I never see death. Speak – your servant is listening… In your holy name, Amen.

Works A key word in today’s Scripture reading in Psalm 111 is “works.” Common Physics explains “Work is done when a force that is applied to an object moves that object. The work is calculated by multiplying the force by the amount of movement of an object (W = F x d).” When we see the works of God we find “splendour and majesty,” “His wondrous works will be remembered,” “His works providing food for those who fear Him,” “His works give people the inheritance of nations,” and “the works of His Hands are faithful and just.” Is it possible that God’s works “move” in us to believe in Him? If that is the case, then we are amazed and “moved” to glorify His mighty name! Prayer: Lord God, Almighty, Your works glorify You and I praise You forever more. May You open my eyes so I can see Your majesty and holiness. Praise Your Almighty Name! Amen!

What Are You Looking At?
Confucius, the ancient Chinese philosopher, was quoted as saying, “I have yet to meet a man as fond of high moral conduct as he is of outward appearances.” A research study done by Travelodge revealed that “On average men spend 81 minutes a day on personal grooming, including cleansing, toning and moisturizing, shaving, styling hair and choosing clothes, the study found. Women have their beauty regime down to a fine art and get hair, clothes and make-up done in just 75 minutes (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/). The time had come to choose a leader for the nation of Israel and the prophet Samuel was impressed with Eliab. – good looking, he thought. But the Lord told Samuel that is not how He sees him. A different type of survey investigation would reveal interesting insights to how much time we spend on our heart grooming. Prayer: Father, you have given me my looks because I am made in Your image. May my heart be pure like yours, full of love, grace, and beauty. Help me to see the heart of others instead of their grooming self. Amen.

Peace Or War!
Just because Jesus brings peace (shalom) to our hearts, it does not mean everyone will agree about who He is. Even in His own day John reports there was sharp disagreement. Is He the Messiah? A prophet? Elijah reincarnated? Mary’s son? An angel appearing like a man? Only later in his Gospel does John tell us he writes so that ‘you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God …’ (John 20:31). Prayer: Dear Lord, today I’m so thankful for your Word, clearly pointing the way to the truth of salvation. Jesus is indeed the Son of God, who submitted His life to bring us back to God. Though there are people who have false knowledge about Jesus, we confess that He is our only saviour. He is Lord of all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Perfect Timing Too often like spoiled kids we want things on our schedule; right now. Without perspective we can see only the immediate present. God’s timing is irrelevant. In fact, like the disciples we sometimes find it troublesome. How much better though to learn patience when He so leads … and action when it is called for! Prayer: Dear Lord, it is not our natural tendency to be patient, to be calm and wait in faith. So often we want our own agenda and instant gratification, or else, we blame and complain. Forgive us, Lord. Help us to be patient, to trust your timing, to wait in hope and pray without ceasing. Your will is perfect. Nothing will go wrong when we put our full trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
