In 2009, we celebrated the one hundred and tenth anniversary of our church. Cornelius Enders O.S.B., with the help of local parishioners built the church that we still attend today. Over time there have been many changes to the structure; it has been expanded and remodeled, it has been updated and enhanced, but it still stands on the same foundation that Father Enders set in place 110 years ago. Members have passed on, or moved on, but as they did new generations grew up and new members moved in. We, the parishioners of Saint Scholastica, are a continuum of the parishioners of Saint Scholastica in 1899. We stand on the foundation of community set down by Father Cornelius and the early coal miners. We are but a new generation of the same Catholic community.

Will you listen to the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit this week? πŸ™

What does it mean to have a heart that loves like Christ?

You might've observed this common phenomenon: when you pray for patience, your patience is tried; when you pray for courage, you have the opportunity to be brave.

The same is true when we pray to learn how to love.

In today's Gospel, God presents the same invitation to the three travelers: upon seeing the man who "fell victim to robbers," the Levite pretends not to see him; the Samaritan, however, is "moved with compassion at the sight" (Luke 10:30, 33).

This week, will you watch for God's invitations to love?

Sometimes, what seems like a detour is exactly where Christ is waiting for you in your neighbor.

For all those seeking, and for all those who have yet to meet Christ... Lord, hear our prayer!

Jesus calls. Jesus waits. Jesus welcomes.

Maybe you've recently met our Lord. Maybe you're praying for someone who has yet to meet him, or are walking beside a friend on their journey.

Wherever you are this Lent, know that Jesus is seeking YOU.

Will you let him into your heart?
