Today Pastor Jonathan taught from II Kings 12.

In the previous chapter we saw great excitement from the people of Judah when they realized Joash was from David's line and was now king in Judah. Now, we see him starting out well under the direction of Jehoiada the priest, but then after the death of the priest, he spirals downward and is yet another king that disappoints. You may want to read the parallel passage in II Chronicles 24 to get a fuller picture of his reign.

Today, Pastor Jonathan taught from II Kings 11.

After the death of Ahaziah king of Judah, his mother acts quickly to eliminate any possible descendant to take his place and inserts herself as queen of Judah. It is a dark time in Judah as it appears God's promise to David was not going to come to fruition. Then, at the right time, a little king comes along who brings great hope. We don't want to miss how this foreshadows an even greater King with a greater hope. In preparation you may want to consider how God preserved some babies or children in order to carry out His plan.
