My name is Philip Askins, the founder of a group called "His Shining Lights. A major feature of our group is being able to talk the talk and walk the walk. In our group we believe that the main goal in life is to try your hardest to make your neighbor your family. HIS SHINING LIGHTS 2014 EVENTS

ng Center at W. 4th & Chestnut. Free EASTER DINNER
Held on Palm Sunday April 13 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church 2320 East Lake Road, Erie PA 16511. From noon to 1pm

Free MUSIC IN THE WOODS
Held on the 2nd Sunday in June 8, July 13, August 10 and Sept 14. In the woods at the pavilion behind Eastminster Presbyterian Church 2320 East Lake Road, Erie PA 16511. Starting at 3pm with music followed with a free dinner. Free INNER CITY NON-DENOMINATIONAL THANKSGIVING DINNER
Held the Sunday before Thanksgiving November 23 from 1pm to 3pm
With live entertainment. Served as many as 1000. CHRISTMAS PARTY AT THE NURSING HOME
First Sunday in December 7. Gifts for all the residents, games, decorations, stockings, hats, jingle bells, and song time. Then the finale pizza party with refreshments.

His Shining lights finished out the year 2024 by delivering teddy bears to Brevillier Village and Nightingale assisted Living spreading and expressing acts of joy and love. It just warms my heart thinking of others and showing them that you care.

His Shining Lights. Visited three places this week. We dropped in at Glenwood at Parkside on December 14th, Elmwood Estates on December 15th, and Walnut Creek on December 19th. We had a great time sang a few Christmas Carols spreading joy, love and happiness. Santa even dropped in and got a picture with each resident and presented them with a teddy bear. We would like to thank South Harborcreek United Methodist Church and Erie High School.

Last year 2023 we engaged in a variety of activities at three different nursing homes. We have done manicures, played games such as basketball, bowling, molkky, ring toss, and we cannot forget about fly ball. We had an out stand time. We even had some of our students from Erie High taking vitals. And singing karaoke.
The residents enjoyed the teddy bears and pictures for a loved one. We even sang some holiday songs. His Shining Lights handed out about 250 teddy bears last year. If we have extra bears we donate them to our Shriners Hospital. Thank you everyone for your support. This year we plan on baking cookies with the residents and continuing our journey spreading love and kindness.

His Shining Lights furthermore paid a visit to Ball Pavilion. We did some caroling and Santa was in attendance. We delivered teddy bears to Lecom Senior Living Center and Walnut Creek. We also donated the rest of the teddy bears to Shriner’s Hospital in Erie.

His Shining Lights visited Elmwood Estates and Ball Pavilion this year. Erie High School sang holiday songs and wished residents a Merry Christmas. Santa Claus visited and brought gifts for the residents. Residents received a picture of his or herself with Santa. Santa also left gifts for Nightingale residents. What a wonderful time everyone had. Everyone felt loved and filled with joy.

His Shining Lights is going to focus on the nursing homes this year. We are going to spread acts of kindness and caring. We are going to interact with 3 nursing homes. Elmwood Estates and Nightingale, are just to name a few. The residents enjoyed a the stuffed animals we purchased in previous years. We always have some activities as well. We sang holiday carols. in previous years. A visit from St. Nick with photo always lights up the room. Activity dates are soon to come.

His Shinging Lights made gift bags for three nursing homes in the area. They were Elmwood Estates, Twin Brook and the Soldiers and Sailor Home. A total of 273 Gift bags dropped off. We Wished them a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holiday. We still were not aloud to go in and sing and do activities at this time. All three places were very grateful. Happy Holidays Everyone!!!
