β€œLord, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the Earth.”

On Pentecost, the Church celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit β€” the Spirit who brings courage, renewal and new life.

Pentecost is an invitation for each of us to be renewed in Christ and sent forth as missionary disciples. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, fear gives way to faith, division to unity and indifference to love.

May the Holy Spirit renew our hearts, our Church and our world.

Come, Holy Spirit, pray for us.

The Diocese of Erie gives thanks to God as the Most Rev. Lawrence T. Persico celebrates the 49th anniversary of his priestly ordination.

Ordained a priest for the Diocese of Greensburg, Bishop Persico has faithfully served the Church for nearly five decades. Since October 1, 2012, he has led the Diocese of Erie with a steady commitment to the Eucharist and pastoral care. As he nears retirement, this milestone is a moment of gratitude for his leadership and the many lives touched through his ministry.

Please join in prayer for Bishop Persico, asking God to bless him with continued peace and strength.

Today the Church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday, a powerful reminder of God’s endless love and forgiveness.

In the Gospel, the risen Christ appears to His disciples and says, β€œPeace be with you.” β€” offering mercy, healing and new life.

This day invites all to trust in His mercy, seek reconciliation and extend that same mercy to others.

The Diocese of Erie joins the universal Church in answering the call of Pope Leo XIV to pray for peace.

Tomorrow, on the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday, the faithful are invited to unite in prayerβ€”whether at Mass, in Eucharistic adoration, at parish vigils or in the quiet of their own hearts. Across the world and here at home, this shared moment of prayer becomes a powerful witness to hope in the midst of conflict and division.

In a world in need of healing, the Church turns to Christ, the Prince of Peaceβ€”trusting that prayer can transform hearts and renew our world.

All are invited to take part. Even a simple prayer, offered with faith, can make a difference.

Today is Easter Monday, continuing the joy of the Resurrection and the celebration of the Easter season.

The Gospel reminds us that the first witnesses ran with urgency and joy to share the good news β€” β€œDo not be afraid… go and tell.”

This is the call of the Easter season: not only to celebrate, but to live and share the hope of the risen Christ in our daily lives.
