🎁 Operation Christmas Child | September Collection: Games! 🎲

It’s a new month, which means a new item for our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes!

Throughout September, Wesley Chapel Kids and Youth are collecting games as we continue working toward our goal of filling 50 shoeboxes this year.

What can you bring? Think of small, shoebox-friendly games that a child can enjoy:

• Playing cards
• Travel-size games
• Dominoes
• Jacks
• Marbles
• Small puzzles
• Yo-yos
• Jump ropes
• Other small games or activities

Every item we collect helps us get a little closer to filling those 50 boxes—and every completed shoebox is an opportunity to share the love of Christ with a child.

Thank you, Wesley Chapel, for continuing to support our Kids and Youth as they lead us in this ministry!

What Is the World Service Fund?

The World Service Fund is the primary avenue through which The United Methodist Church supports mission and ministry around the world.

Through the World Service Fund, United Methodist churches are connected to ministries that extend far beyond the reach of any single congregation. Together, we support the work of the Church locally, nationally, and internationally.

This shared ministry focuses on important areas of our Christian mission:

• Developing principled Christian leaders for the Church and the world
• Creating new places for new people and renewing existing congregations
• Engaging in ministry with the poor
• Improving global health and combating diseases of poverty

The World Service Fund reminds us of one of the strengths of being a connectional church. We can accomplish together what would be difficult—or impossible—for any one congregation to accomplish alone.

Paul writes, “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:27

Our ministry begins in our own community, but it does not end there. Through the World Service Fund, we join with United Methodists around the world in the shared work of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

That is connectional ministry: many congregations, one Church, working together in the mission of Christ.

What a wonderful week we shared at Wesley Chapel!

On Wednesday evening, we gathered in the Christian Life Center for **“Breakfast for Dinner.”** Thank you to everyone who prepared and brought breakfast dishes and helped make the evening such a great time of fellowship. We also wrapped up the summer quarter of our Wednesday Bible studies and will begin our fall quarter together.

Then, in great Methodist fashion, we ended the week with worship and our **5th Sunday Fellowship Meal**. The potluck was amazing, but what stayed with me even more was the scene in the Christian Life Center afterward—people eating together, laughing, talking, and simply enjoying being with one another.

During Sunday’s message, we wrestled with Jesus’ question about what it profits us to gain the whole world but lose our life. As I looked around that room after worship, I was reminded of something else: **what there is to gain.**

Community. Fellowship. Relationships. A place at the table. Brothers and sisters walking through life together in Christ.

Those are things the world cannot replace.

This Sunday at Wesley Chapel, we will gather around Matthew 18:15–20 and a message titled “No One Left Behind.”

We live in a world that has become very good at drawing lines—between neighbors, families, churches, and people who disagree. Too often, when conflict comes, our instinct is simply to walk away.

But Jesus gives us another way.

When relationships are broken, Jesus calls us toward one another. He calls us to speak truth, seek reconciliation, offer forgiveness, and never lose our desire for restoration.

The line we draw may be real. The disagreement may be real. But the person on the other side is never disposable.

This Sunday we will also gather for Holy Communion, remembering that before we were people called to seek reconciliation, we were people whom Christ sought and reconciled to himself.

Pastor Larry here, sorry my question is so late today. None the less, here goes. What do you eat on a hot dog, and what doesn't belong on a hot dog? I like mustard, onions, and chili. Never never never, ketchup or mayonnaise.

What a wonderful week at Wesley Chapel!

This past week, we were able to get the **solar lights installed on our church sign**, and we are thankful that the **sanctuary air conditioning has been repaired** as well.

On Wednesday, our **Young at Heart Bible Study** gathered from 10–11 AM, followed by a great time of fellowship at Mom’s Diner in Enterprise. Wednesday evening was another wonderful night together, with a fellowship meal and Bible studies for all ages.

We ended the week in worship with our message from Matthew 16:

**“Who Do You Say I Am?”**

And now we are looking forward to another full week together!

This is our **Fifth Sunday**, and we will have a **potluck lunch following worship**. The church will provide **chicken and macaroni & cheese**—bring a favorite side dish or dessert to share.

And this week, I want to give everyone one simple challenge:

Invite one person to come with you.

A friend.
A neighbor.
A coworker.
A family member.
Someone who has not been to church in a while.
Someone who simply needs a place to belong.

Sometimes an invitation is all it takes.

This Sunday at Wesley Chapel, we continue where we left off.

Last week, Jesus asked his disciples:

“Who do you say I am?” — Matthew 16:15

Peter got the answer right: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

But this week, in Matthew 16:21–28, Peter discovers that knowing who Jesus is and actually following Jesus are not always the same thing.

When Jesus begins describing the road ahead, Peter tries to redirect him. Jesus responds:

“Get behind me…”

Those words raise a challenging question for every disciple:

Am I following Jesus, or am I asking Jesus to follow me?

Join us this Sunday as we consider what it really means to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Christ.

Come worship with us. There is a place for you.
