CHURCH

Bethel United Presbyterian Church was organized by Chartiers Presbytery, which was under the authority of Associate Presbyterian Church of Pennsylvania in 1798 near Enon Valley, Pa. In 1804 the congregation moved to its present location and built its first log church. The year 1811 a new hewn log church was built. About 1816 the south wall of this structure was removed and the building enl

arged. The first frame church was constructed in 1837. This served the congregation until 1868 when construction of the second frame church was started. It was completed Dec. 23, 1870. Parts of the 1837 church were repurposed into the 1868 building. This structure had extensive remodeling in 1904. In 1926, the building was moved 30 feet from the road and a basement added. The sanctuary was enlarged in 1951 with a seating capacity of 348. Offices and a conference room completed in 1973. The area is now used for a library and classrooms. The year 1986 the addition of a fellowship hall, kitchen, offices and a multi-purpose room. In the year 2004, an addition of six classrooms. Bethel congregation was part of the United Presbyterian for over 200 years. The Congregation voted in 2012 to change denominations and is now affiliated with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Bethel. Worship is held a 9:30a.m. Sunday school is offered for all ages beginning at 11:00a.m. Ministries offered: AWANA for 3 years old through 6th grade. Youth Group. Vacation Bible School. Numerous prayer groups and home bible study groups are held.
