Sometimes, prayer is nothing more than a sentence whispered under our breath or a silent cry in our chest. The Bible never treats these prayers as less important. God hears them just as fully.

We often assume prayer has to sound long or impressive to be meaningful. We worry about finding the right words or sustaining focus. But Scripture reminds us that prayer is a relationship. God listens not because our prayers say all of the “right” things, but because he loves us and is attentive to our needs. PTOL

O LORD, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O LORD my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the LORD because he is good to me.”

The Psalms give us permission to pray honestly, especially about emotions we might otherwise minimize or hide: exhaustion, frustration, loneliness, hard-fought hope... Throughout the Bible, we see these everyday emotions as worthy of prayer.
Psalm 13 opens with frustration and ends with trust, without skipping over the pain in between. David doesn’t filter his feelings before bringing them to God. He names them. Prayer becomes the place where honesty and faith meet. Scripture invites us to bring our whole emotional landscape to God, not just the parts we think are important or cleaned up enough.

Good evening Gentlemen! This is a last minute announcement, we will be canceling the breakfast tomorrow due to a funeral service. We don’t want to rush our time and be scrambling to get cleaned up and out. And want to allow the family all the time they need for their service without interruption. So we have made the decision to cancel the breakfast for this week.
