God is our Refuge
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way.” Psalm 46:1-2

Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, many memories remain: the towers, the smoke, the Pentagon, a Pennsylvania field, and the shock of a changed world. We remember the thousands who died and the families, friends, first responders, and communities forever affected.

We also remember extraordinary courage. Firefighters, police officers, emergency workers, military personnel, airline crews, passengers, and countless strangers showed compassion and sacrifice amid tragedy.

Psalm 46 reminds us that God is present in our darkest moments. Though trouble comes, He remains our refuge and strength. Jesus calls us to be light in a dark world; to remember, pray, serve, love, and share the hope we have in Christ.

May we honor those who died, give thanks for those who served, and show compassion to those still carrying the wounds of that day. Our refuge is not found in circumstances or institutions, but in God, who never changes.
