Catholics believe that the Church was not invented centuries later by emperors, councils, or medieval leaders.
After choosing the Apostles, Christ established a visible Church with authority to teach, sanctify, and govern in His name.
"And behold, I am with you always, to the close of the age."
โ Matthew 28:20
The Catholic Church traces its leadership through apostolic succession directly back to the Apostles and ultimately to Christ.

Many people assume that the Bible came first and the Church came later.
Historically, the opposite is true.
The early Christians lived, worshipped, preached, baptized, celebrated the Eucharist, and spread the Gospel for decades before the New Testament was completed.
The Church existed before the New Testament canon was formally recognized.
The faith was first transmitted through preaching, worship, and Apostolic Tradition.

The Bible did not descend from heaven with an inspired table of contents.
During the first centuries of Christianity, many writings circulated among Christian communities. The Church carefully discerned which books were truly inspired by the Holy Spirit and belonged in Sacred Scripture.
Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Church councils and bishops recognized the canon of Scripture that Christians continue to use today.

These five facts remind us that Catholicism is deeply rooted in Scripture, history, and Apostolic Christianity.
They teach us that:
โข Christ founded His Church.
โข The Apostles received the fullness of the faith.
โข The Church preceded and preserved the Bible.
โข God's truth has been faithfully handed down through the centuries.

The Catholic Church is not centered on human traditions alone, but on Jesus Christ, who founded His Church, entrusted His teachings to the Apostles, and promised to remain with His people until the end of the age.
When we know our faith well, we can explain it with confidence, charity, and love.
