Deacon Sunday in the Catholic Church is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of October.

This year, "Deacon Sunday" was October 11.

We give thanks for the deacons who serve the Church, and our CCNWD family so faithfully.

Thank you for your “yes” to God’s call, for serving at the altar, for caring for your communities and families, and giving so generously of yourselves in service to Christ and His Church.

May the Lord strengthen you in your vocation, bless your families, and fill you with joy as you continue to serve.

Please join us in praying for our deacons and for more men to hear and courageously answer God’s call to the diaconate. 🙏

The Mother Brunner Students are increasing their Catholic Identity by attending Mass every Friday morning. Our school masses are prayer-filled and lively! The students are involved in celebrating the liturgy as lectors, cantors, choir, and hospitality ministers. We will soon have student altar servers!

Thank you to Fr. Seraphine, Fr. Tony, Principal Aubree Glover, and parishioner and Religion Teacher Cathy Gough for the revitalization of the Mother Brunner School Religion Program. Our students are excited for Christ!✝️

Fr. Seraphine and Fr. Tony called the Kindergarten and eighth grade students to sit around the altar during the Eucharisic Prayer.

October 21 is the Feast of St. Gaspar del Bufalo - the founder of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.🩸

St. Gaspar del Bufalo was a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Rome in the early 1800's. After the Napoleonic War ended, del Bufalo founded the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1815. With his band of missionaries, he preached the merits of the Precious Blood to his fellow Italians. Though his order faced many challenges in their early days, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood worked tirelessly in re-evangelizing the Italian people.

St. Gaspar was driven by a passion for souls and was an inspirational speaker. He preached at missions and converted many. Mother Brunner became devoted to the Precious Blood while visiting Rome. Father Brunner heard St. Gaspar‘s followers in Italy and later joined the Missionaries Of The Precious Blood, bringing them to America.

The C.PP.S. you see after a Missionary’s name is an abbreviation for the Congregation’s name in Latin, Congregatio Pretiosissimi Sanguinis, the Congregation of the Most Precious Blood.🩸

We are so grateful for our Pastor, Fr. Anthony Fortman, C.PP.S., and our Parochial Vicar, Fr. Seraphine Lesiriam, C.PP.S at CCNWD.

St. Gaspar’s feast day is October 21, and because it is a solemnity the Church permits us to transfer it to the nearest Sunday in Ordinary Time.

St. Gaspar, pray for us!🙏🏻😇

As a gift from God, every human life is sacred from conception to natural death. The life and dignity of every person must be respected and protected at every stage and in every condition.
Human life, as a gift of God, is sacred and inviolable. Not only must human life not be taken, but it must be protected with loving concern.
