An Exciting New Chapter in the Life of Rocky Mountain Bible College and Rocky Mountain Seminary!
After a distinguished career in ministry of higher education spanning more than four decades, Dr. Stephen R. Lewis has informed the Board of Trustees in July he planned to retire from his role as President of Rocky Mountain Bible College and Rocky Mountain Seminary at the end of August 2020.
Dr. Lewis has been in ministry for 45 years and is currently the President of Rocky Mountain Bible College & Rocky Mountain Seminary in Denver, CO. He is also a Missionary with BEE World (Biblical Education by Extension). He has taught in five seminaries and two colleges in the areas of Bible/Theology, Church History as well as Biblical Hebrew and NT Greek. He is passionately committed to the clear and simple message of God’s grace [when one shares the Gospel/the Message of life they should always remember three things: It is always about Him (always believe/faith/trust in Jesus Christ—based on His Death and Resurrection); it must be simple enough for a child to understand and it must be consistent from Genesis through Revelation] He has spoken at Awana Leadership Conferences for over 20 years and has taught Awana Commander’s College in three states. He and his wife Shan have two married children and three grandchildren. He spent 4 years in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN 65) with VA 97 while deployed off the coast of Vietnam in 1971-1972. Stephen has also been blessed to be a senior pastor in two churches in California and has taught in Amman, Jordan, Myanmar, Uganda, Bahamas, Singapore and Trinidad and Tobago over the years.
A passionate advocate for Free Grace biblical education, Dr. Lewis has embraced RMBC/RMS as his own during his tenure with our college and seminary and we are all the richer for it. Over the past seventeen years, Dr. Lewis has led our schools with a clear vision, boundless energy and unmatched enthusiasm that has allowed Rocky Mountain Bible College and Rocky Mountain Seminary to be established.
As a College and Seminary, our mission remains unchanged: Rocky Mountain Bible College and Rocky Mountain Seminary exist to equip students in the study of the Bible that will lead their generation into the future changing the way they think, live and serve, to change their world for Jesus Christ.
Dr. Lewis has been a tremendous champion of the Freeness of God’s Grace and has left us poised for additional future successes. We are excited for him as he prepares to begin a new chapter. The Board is committed to continuity of our mission as we announce our new President, Dr. Christopher Cone.
Dr. Cone has served as President of Calvary University and as Research Professor of Bible and Theology, in executive and faculty roles at Southern California Seminary as Chief Academic Officer and Research Professor of Bible and Theology, and at Tyndale Theological Seminary as President and Professor of Bible and Theology. He has served in several pastoral roles and has also held teaching positions at the University of North Texas, North Central Texas College, and Southern Bible Institute. His articles are published at www.drcone.com, and he is the author and general editor of fourteen books.
