Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued his first in a series of monthly messages that will continue through the end of this year under the title "All Together in One Place."

Each message will share a pastoral word, rooted in Scripture, that witnesses to God’s presence today, our rich theological tradition and the social teaching that connects us.

“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

We are preparing to say goodbye to our wonderful secretary, Cheyenne Grace, as she heads off to college. We will miss her very much! Congratulations, Cheyenne!

We are looking for a new secretary for about two hours twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

The secretary creates, prints, emails the bulletin, worship slides, bulletin inserts, and related materials for the worship assistants, helps keep the CLC calendar, and orders office supplies as needed. Hours are somewhat flexible and vary each week (3-4 hours over two days) depending on the church season and scheduled activities. Beginning pay is $17 per hour. Computer skills and a level of comfort and confidence learning new software are necessary for this position. Cheyenne can help train the incoming secretary, if we are able to find one in the next month. If you or someone you know would be interested in either position, please email Pastor Stephanie at [email protected].

🔥 The Day of Pentecost 🔥

What better way to celebrate the Holy Spirit—the mighty rush of wind that blew the disciples out into the world—than with a bunch of “wind” players? 💨🎷
Today, 50 days after Easter, we were so pleased to welcome members of the Upper Valley Community Band as they used their creative breath to enhance our worship:

🎵 Sarah Chamberlain (Clarinet)
🎵 Vajl Adamkowski (Alto Saxophone)
🎵 Kiah Laramie (Bass Clarinet)

🎹 Karen Liot-Hill (Church Musician)

Today's Reflection: In Acts, the Spirit arrives in rushing wind and flame. Paul reminds us that while our gifts differ, we are unified in one Spirit. And just as Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit onto his disciples, we too are given that breath and sent out to proclaim God’s redeeming love to all the world. ♥️

🎶 Offertory Music: Loving Spirit ( #397)

Join us in celebrating God’s presence within and among us today! 🙌

Peace be with you.

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has released a statement on the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

“As the ELCA, we must speak plainly: violence rooted in hatred is sin. We condemn Islamophobia and acknowledge its rise in recent years. Our church affirms that “anti-Muslim hatred is antithetical to our Christian faith” (A Declaration of the ELCA to the Muslim Community), for we are called to love our neighbor in ways that cast out fear (1 John 4:18).”

“Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. We have renounced the shameful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God” (2 Corinthians 4:1-2).
