THE NGAKPA (MANTRA SPEAKER) ROBES OF TIBETAN VAJRAYANA.
The traditional "zen" of the non-monastic lineage of Tibet, the Ngakpas and Ngakmas are red and white panels, expressing the union of Yang and Yin, Fire and Water, skillful means and wisdom, the Manifest and the Ultimate Nature. In this case a deep purple (sh***ng the red tone with the color of Space or Wisdom).
These stunning Vajrayana zens are 100% heavy cotton (silk not so yogic!), the raw material personally chosen by Pema Lhadon, and hand woven by loom in Bhutan.. After weaving the panels they have to be sewn together, and the fringes hand knotted, etc. Altogether it took three months to create this set of twelve...
I had acquired one like this some years ago (one of 15 trips to Bhutan now!), but as there were none available this time round, we hand them all fabricated.. They really came out far beyond expectation and will last a lifetime....or three...
