Here in Emporia we are blessed to serve alongside Kurt Cooper, a deacon whose ministry bridges the church and the world through the United Methodist Campus Ministry at Emporia State.

We give thanks for Kurt and for the order of deacons who are faithful witnesses of God’s love in the world.

Margaret Ann Crain helped define the role of United Methodist deacons, shaping generations of leaders through service, compassion, justice, and faith.

Middle School Service Learning trip today included, weeding, mulching, animal care and some bunny cuddles at Urban Roots Garden and then building 5 kid sized dressers for families in need of a new start at furniture bank. Dinner came with some added adventures, including a metro ride.
Everywhere we have been, folks have commented on these student’s hard work, politeness, and care for others. More work awaits tomorrow.

Wonderful article by a Great Plains UMC Communications Reporter, David Burke. Pastors Ross & Amanda were once again blessed to co-lead as Spiritual Life Coordinators. Make sure to check out this article and several photos from the midweek Visitor Night worship service. FUMC celebrated having 10 youth from our congregation on this big anniversary year!

They didn't leave the campus of Baldwin City First UMC nor Baker University, but 49 campers journeyed into the wilderness during the 115th United Methodist Youth Institute last week.

This year’s theme was “Lost in the Wilderness,” looking at lost Biblical figures who were lost and following God’s direction “sometimes with sketchy directions,” Rev. Brenda Davids, community life coordinator, said.

“When you feel like that, when you don’t know what the next step is, God is with you,” Davids said.

Throughout this Easter-tide Season we as a congregation have been focusing in on our new Vision Statement as the United Methodist Church. Considering what it means to Love boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Live Courageously! Each Sunday, hearing testimony from one of our Pastors in the Great Plains Conference.

As we prepare to close out this Series this upcoming Sunday, and be given the opportunity to prayerfully give in our support of Miracle Sunday, we invite you to hear a little more about Miracle Sunday, and what it means to truly support a world-wide denomination: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EHLDQ4CzM/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Rev. Rodgers Chishiba, pastor at Colby United Methodist Church in western Kansas, joins Todd for a conversation about Miracle Sunday, an effort from the Council of Bishops to raise funds for an endowment for theological education outside the United States. Rodgers explains why it's an important effort and how participation is a reflection of our worldwide connection as United Methodists. https://inlaymansterms.podbean.com/e/miracle-sunday/
