Manna for the Week:

"Live life like God Intended" ~Philippines 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Living for Jesus Christ requires that the Christian bring his life under control, a kind of self-mastery. I have long felt that the apostle Paul was an outstanding athlete; but if he was not, we can be certain he had a keen appreciation for athletic contest because of his frequent allusion to them. Each time he makes such a reference, his point is that Christians must develop a spiritual discipline comparable to the strenuous training the athlete undergoes in preparation for his event.

Think About It!

Learning to control your selfish desires may be one of the most difficult of all your steps toward Christian maturity. At the very beginning, it requires an alignment of motives with the will of Christ. So many things that you say, or think, or do are designed to serve only your own purposes; and this simply will not do for a follower of Christ. Motives color everything you do.

Be About It!

Serve the Savior in humility. And love your neighbor as you love yourself.

To Prairie Grove M. Baptist Church Members,
Happy New Year! We greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As COVID-19 cases surge, the local, state and federal authorities are asking everyone to abide by the guidelines
currently in place to slow the rise in positive cases down. As pastor of the Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church, I am asking all members to adhere to these strict guidelines for your
safety and the safety of those you cherish.

We also have been impacted by this virus as some of our church family members have tested positive for COVID and some have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Therefore, it is
important to practice social distancing, wear a mask when out in public, and continue to wash your hands regularly as the CDC guidelines state.

With this rise in COVID-19 cases, we are encouraging everyone who attended our December 27, 2020 service to get tested. We will postpone our January 3 and January 10, 2021 services to
allow a 14 day quarantine and for facility sanitization. We will attempt to resume regular worship on Sunday, January 17, 2021 and celebrate Holy Communion.

If you desire prayer, please email your request to us at [email protected].

Peace & Blessings,
Harry Garrett, Chairman of Deacons
Reverend W.R. Byrd, Pastor
