About 20 years ago, many churches in the United States began celebrating a Season of Creation each September and early October. The PCUSA honors September 1 as a World Day of Prayer for God’s Creation, so the first weekend in September, also Labor Day in the United States, is a wonderful time to celebrate God’s work and ours, particularly as we work together in continuing creation. Recently, an ecumenical body named September 1 the “Feast of Creation in Christ,” so it is also a perfect time to remember creation as we share communion.
This week we welcome Rev. Dr. Susan Gilbert-Zencka to the pulpit. Her message is entitled Continuing Creation: God’s Work and Ours.

Our walk with Christ is a continuous journey of learning and understanding. We are inundated with viewpoints, perspectives, and opinions about how we as Christians should be living our lives. But truly, this is a very personal excursion that should be just between our individual self and God. We should be asking ourselves a fundamental question - “What kind of Christian am I?”. This open conversation will present one man’s personal viewpoint on that very question.

This week we welcome Tom Dilts to the pulpit. His message is entitled Where Is God In Our Story?
One of life’s questions we ask ourselves from time to time is “Where Is God In Our Story?” The question can be raised for our own life, the life of the church, the life of our country, and countless other circumstances. Today we focus on the story of Joseph and ask where was God in the betrayal of Joseph by his brothers when they sold him into slavery in ancient Egypt. By considering the works of the flesh and the fruits of the Spirit as Paul describes them in Galatians 5, we hope to see more clearly how God was at work in the life of Joseph, and gain insight into where God is in OUR own story!

This week we welcome Rev. Scott DeCaro to the pulpit. His message is entitled Searched and Known.
How well do you know your best friend? Do you know all of their dreams, their greatest fears and doubts, the best and the worst things they have done in life? Do they know the same about you, and would you want them to know every detail of your life? This Sunday’s Scripture is a reminder that God knows us that well, that God has searched each of us and knows us completely. In preparation for worship this week, think about who you are, and consider the best and worst of yourself. Intentionally be aware of all that you bring to worship this week, and bring it before God on Sunday.
