🏆 Be a Community Champion!
The Elyria Police Department is proud to introduce the Community Champion Award, a new program created to recognize and celebrate the amazing young people who are making a difference in our community.

We’re looking for K–12 students who are:
• Showing kindness and compassion
• Leading by example
• Giving back to their community
• Making positive choices
• Achieving their goals
• Helping others
• Doing the right thing when no one is watching

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. We want to hear those stories.

Know a young person who deserves to be recognized? NOMINATE THEM! Nominations are open year-round and can be submitted by anyone age 18 or older.

📲 Nominate a Community Champion here: https://www.cityofelyria.org/department/police/elyria-police-community-champion-award/

Help us shine a light on the good happening in our community and remind our young people that their choices matter, their actions matter, and they matter.

"May all that this day symbolizes renew our faith in freedom, our devotion to democracy, and redouble our efforts to keep a government of the people, by the people, and for the people truly alive in our world. Grant that we may highly resolve on this great day to dedicate ourselves anew to the task of ushering in an era when good will shall live in the hearts of a free people, justice shall be the light to guide their feet, and peace shall be the goal of humankind: to the glory of thy holy name and the good of our nation and of all mankind." (Prayer offered by U.S. House of Representatives Chaplain Rev. Edward G. Latch on July 3, 1974) 📷 location: Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist - Cleveland

"The next time your district or local media outlet refers to 'vouchers' costing a billion dollars without any reference to the number of students served or the amount public school districts spend over a comparable period … Look them up! When you hear anti-parental-choice spokespeople claim that the legislature has 'reduced its spending on public school funding' because the state’s actual 3.68% increase this biennium is not as high as they would have liked … You can search for the facts! EdChoice is, in fact, the best value for taxpayers in Ohio."
