This Tuesday at 7:30 we will begin a virtual study of selected Psalms. Lord willing, every Tuesday we hope to become better acquainted with this wonderful book of worship and praise, as we see how righteous people dealt with a variety of life situations and emotions. In these studies we hope to draw nearer to God and better understand our place in His world. “In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.”And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke” (Isaiah 6:1-4).

God is Holy and the earth is full of His glory! Understanding that God is holy is a vital step in coming to know Him. In Exodus 3, God appeared to Moses in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush, yet the bush was not consumed. This bush could have been an eternal source of fuel, if God chose for it to be! As Moses gazed at the marvelous sight, God gave him instructions and told Moses not to come near and to take off his sandals “for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” Since God is holy we have to approach Him in a special way as well. We must listen to the words God has revealed, with a willingness to “take off our sandals” if that is what He would ask! The good news for us is God wants us to know Him and we can come to know Him and build a relationship with Him. Yet we must understand the importance of listening and reading the Bible so that we can make the changes necessary to draw near to the Holy one.

We invite you to join one of our Bible studies where we will seek nothing more than to learn and understand more about God and His desire for people. There are both virtual and in person opportunities and if none of the currently scheduled studies work for you, we would be delighted to set up a time to open a Bible and read it with you.

What controls your heart? What drives the decisions that you make? There is a battle for the heart. Too often we are controlled by greed, passion, anger, lies and pride, among many other heart damaging traits. When these things control our heart we will likely find ourselves hurting the people we love the most. If we listen close enough to our hearts we may admit that there is something missing from our life. The amazing promise we read in the Bible is that God has the power to transform us and give us a new heart. If we seek this from Him, He will replace what hurts the heart with heart healthy attributes like love, joy, sincerity and truth. If this change describes something you need, then consider a study of the Bible. We would be glad to conduct a verse by verse study of a book in the Bible or step back and get a big picture view of the Bible so that we can see God’s solution to our heart problems.
