With a huge thanks to Cindy Hayden from the Friends of Woodlawn Cemetery board, Chemung County Historical Society and a little help from supportive friends in our community, there is a new sign recognizing John T. Lewis, a valued past member of our community. Take a moment to reflect when passing, and drink in another moment of Elmira's rich, esteemed and respected history!

Many good memories were made during the Annual Ghost Walk. Jim was always there, dressed in character (complete with mutton chop sideburns), to offer lessons on the history of Elmira.

Truly, he touched so many in our community!

It is with such a heavy heart that the Friends acknowledge the legacy and mourn the loss of one of our founding fathers, Jim Hare. We grieve along with the entire community he lived for and tirelessly supported. His contributions to Elmira, the Friends of Woodlawn Cemetery, and all others he touched and supported so fiercely will be felt and missed so deeply. RIP Jim, and thank you for your service to us and so many others. Godspeed.

Just a few "ghosts" from this weekend's Ghost Walk. What a fabulous event and how wonderful it is to collaborate with the Chemung County Historical Society and Elmira Little Theatre to bring this event to our community! Thank you to all who came, volunteered and to our lovely resident ghosts! 💗👻

Congratulations to Nancy Campbell, who has served in the cemetery office for several years, and has come out of retirement twice to help train new employees! That is dedication!

In recognition, the Mayor of Elmira designated today, Friday, May 26th, as “Nancy Campbell Day”. We couldn't be more proud of her or know of anyone more deserving of this honor!

Nancy, enjoy your retirement, once again!
