HE IS RISEN!

The tomb is empty. Death is defeated. The resurrection we've traced through Lent—from Elijah's upper room to Tabitha to Jairus' daughter—all pointed to THIS moment. Jesus didn't just raise others; He conquered death itself and rose from the grave.

For five weeks we watched God raise the dead. Saturday night at the Vigil, we proclaimed it for the first time: Christ is risen! Now Sunday morning, we celebrate with the whole Church: He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Bring the whole family. The stone is rolled away. The grave clothes are empty. Death could not hold Him.

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

We've journeyed through Lent watching God raise the dead in upper rooms. We've entered THE upper room where Jesus gave His body and blood. We've stood at the cross where He died.
Now we wait in the darkness of Holy Saturday.

But Saturday night, everything changes.

Easter Vigil | Saturday, April 4, 7:00 PM
Redeemer Lutheran Church
Joint service with local LCMS congregations

We gather in complete darkness. We light the new fire. Candles are lit. The ancient story unfolds—creation, exodus, prophets—all pointing to this moment. Then the Gospel: the tomb is empty. Light floods the sanctuary. And for the first time since Lent began, we cry out: "Christ is risen!"

The Lenten journey through death and resurrection culminates here. The upper rooms were previews. This is the reality.
Join us for the Church's greatest night—the first celebration of the Resurrection, the first "Alleluia" of Easter.

The Triduum begins tonight.
(The "Three Days"—Maundy Thursday through Easter morning—the heart of the Church Year, observed as one continuous act of worship.)

Five weeks of resurrections in upper rooms. One night in THE upper room where Jesus offers His body and blood.

Maundy Thursday | 7:00 PM
Holy Communion & Stripping of the Altar

"This is my body, given for you." Tonight we receive what all those resurrections pointed toward—Christ Himself, the source of all life over death.

We enter the darkness this Good Friday evening.
Tenebrae—the Service of Darkness—is the Church's ancient way of observing Christ's death. One by one, candles are extinguished as we hear the Passion. Scripture readings, silence, shadows deepening. We leave in darkness and silence, waiting for the light of Easter morning.

Good Friday, we gather at the cross.

The Tre Ore (Latin: "Three Hours") is an ancient Good Friday observance focusing on the seven last words Christ spoke from the cross. From noon to three—the hours darkness covered the land—we meditate on His final words: "Father, forgive them." "Today you will be with me in paradise." "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Join congregations across our community for this solemn meditation.

Good Friday Tre Ore | April 3, 12:00-3:00 PM
Zion Lutheran Church, Bensenville (865 S. Church Rd.)
(Come for the full service or drop in as you're able)

For those unable to attend, Redeemer will also host Tenebrae (Service of Darkness) at 7:00 PM in our sanctuary.
