Been out of church for a while? Read this important and encouraging message from Pastor Keith:
“To my dear friends who are struggling to be back in public worship and into weekly fellowship with a church family, take courage. Take one step of faith Sunday. Worry nothing about what others will think or say. Just go only for the purpose of worshiping an audience of One. God loves the praise of His people. Christian faith best expresses itself in a community of imperfect brothers and sisters who need the forgiveness of Jesus daily. I’m not so alone when I know I can weep before my church family, asking them to hold me in suffering, and belly laugh with me in my rejoicing. So just do it tomorrow. Crank up your car and go back to church. Maybe you need a fresh start in a fellowship new to you. Just make sure it’s a church that teaches the Bible as the truth and Word of God, and that Jesus is glorified, not the pastor or leadership, or others. That’s all. Don’t look for your music preferences or liturgy style. Don’t look for the church that has what you think they should offer you or your family. Don’t go to get anything for yourself. Just go with an open heart to worship and hear God’s Word, and to rub shoulders with broken people like you. Go with nothing to offer and no personal expectations. Don’t look for the most friendly people with all the right words to say on your first day. Don’t go with an evaluation sheet of pros and cons. Just go because it’s right. It’s biblical. Ask a trusted friend if they know of a solid bible teaching church that does not compromise and preaches the full counsel of Scripture. If you are living in sin, then go with repentance. Just go. There’s an old hymn says, “The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord.” The church is not about me or you. It’s about the owner, our Shepherd and Holy Christ through whom all things were made.”
