Hello ECOC,
I’ve missed you over these last two weeks! And to say the least, so much has happened over the last two weeks! I hope you’re finding healthy ways to cope with all the changes happening to us and around us. If there was ever a need for us to be together to worship God and encourage one another, it is now. Coincidentally, if there was ever a time for us not to be together, it is also now.
The Elders and I have been in conversation about the best way for us to gather in the midst of this pandemic, and we have decided to use Zoom: video conferencing for our Sunday morning worship gathering.
The reasons we’re using Zoom are (1) at a time like this, worship needs to be us coming together, not us watching one individual person. We can be a better encouragement to one another when we’re able to see one another and engage collectively. (2) Zoom will allow us to delegate worship duties to multiple people (just like a traditional worship service), and (3) Zoom will allow me to screen share my Powerpoint slides if I choose to use them.
We could be worshipping with this format for the next two weeks…or the next two months. And since that’s the case, I want to make it the most enriching experience I possibly can.
Now I know there might be some anxiety if you’ve never used Zoom before. So at the bottom of this post, you can find the link that will take you directly to the “Zoom Room” as I will refer to it. If you use your phone, you will need to download the app. If you use your computer, it will take you there through your internet browser.
In order to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to work out the glitches on their end, we will meet in the Zoom Room 3 times between now and worship on Sunday morning at 10:30am. I encourage you to join us at least once before Sunday at 10:30 to ensure you don’t have any technical difficulties. The three times we’ll meet in the Zoom Room are:
1.) TONIGHT @ 7:00pm: Tonight, we’ll meet to discuss the order of worship, and who will be responsible for what. Even if you don’t want to participate or lead in the worship service, I encourage you to join us anyway just to make sure you’re able to log in. You don’t have to stay the whole time, just log-in, say hi, and go about the rest of your evening.
2.) TOMORROW, SATURDAY @ 7:00pm: Tomorrow, we’ll gather together and catch up with one another. We’ve missed a whole week of gathering together, so grab a cup of coffee, or water, or whatever your choose to drink and join us in the Zoom Room. This will be INFORMAL! Feel free to come and go, and even if you don’t stay long—try to join to make sure you’re all set for Sunday morning worship.
3.) SUNDAY MORNING @ 9:30am: We will start worship at 10:30am! However, we’ll open up the Zoom Room at 9:30 for Bible Class. Feel free to come in (bring your bible) and we’ll get started. If you choose not to participate in the Bible Class, I strongly encourage you to log in 15-20 minutes early to make sure you’re all set for worship.
If at anytime, you have technical difficulties, please call me at 901-216-6433, and I will help walk you through the process. But the first step is to click the link below and it will take you to the Zoom Room. I can’t wait to see you all—even if it’s through a computer (or cell phone) screen.
If you have any questions at all, please post them below, and I will be answering them as they come in.
Marshall Wade is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
