Come and meet Jesus!
Zacchaeus wasn’t looking for salvation. He was just curious.
He just wanted a glimpse.
He just wanted to see who this “Jesus” was
from a safe distance,
from a high branch,
from a place where
he didn’t have to face
his guilt, his reputation, his past.
Because when you’ve spent years
cheating people,
breaking trust,
and hiding behind success,
you learn to live above the crowd,
never within it.
But Jesus,
Jesus doesn’t wait for perfect repentance
before He walks toward you.
He doesn’t demand you fix yourself
before He calls your name.
Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see Jesus,
but Jesus saw him first.
“Zacchaeus, come down immediately.
I must stay at your house today.”
Imagine that,
The Holy One walking straight
toward the man everyone hated.
The Savior visiting the sinner
no one wanted to talk to.
Grace choosing the one
everyone else wrote off.
He didn’t just invite Zacchaeus
to climb down from a tree.
He invited him to climb out of
his old life, his old ways, his old shame.
And that day,
repentance wasn’t forced.
It flowed. It overflowed.
Because when Jesus steps into your home,
your heart cannot stay the same.
Sometimes we think,
we need to climb higher
to get closer to God,
achieve more, do more,
prove more.
But the gospel reminds us,
You don’t have to climb
your way to Jesus.
Jesus comes to you.
Right where you are.
Right in the mess.
Right in the branches you hide behind.
And He still calls your name.
With urgency.
With tenderness.
With purpose.
“Come down, I want to be with you today.”
Maybe that’s His word for you today,
You don’t have to stay hiding.
You don’t have to prove yourself worthy.
You don’t have to see Him from afar.
Just come down.
Let Him in.
And watch salvation walk
right into your story.
