Pope Leo and the Poor
Presenter - Father Frank Coady

In his first apostolic exhortation, Dilexi Te, Pope Leo says that love of the poor is not an option for Christians. He calls on believers to express their love for the poor in large and small ways, in accordance with each one’s possibilities. This must include confronting unjust structures that perpetuate poverty.

Father Coady will summarize Dilexi Te and open a discussion about our response to the pope’s teaching.

🌟 Big applause for Emalie Joiner, our talented SJCS 8th grader! She lit up the stage in Barton Community College’s The SpongeBob Musical. Way to shine, Emalie! 🎭✨

🩺Our SJCS K/1 students had a blast at the Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic Teddy Bear Clinic! They got to be “doctors for the day,” touring the clinic, radiology, lab, ER, and physical therapy departments.

With their favorite stuffed animals in tow, students checked vitals, applied bandages, and cared for their “patients.” They even got an up-close look at the EagleMed 10 helicopter from Great Bend! 🚁

It was a fun and educational day! Thank you to Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic for hosting this wonderful event and giving our students such a great experience. 💙

Christian families gathered in the parish hall this month to enjoy time together and create stained glass crosses. The students did a fantastic job, and there were many beautiful crosses on display.

The Knights of Columbus were busy this weekend! On Friday evening, they hosted their annual Fish Fry with a wonderful turnout. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal of fried fish, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, rolls, and dessert.

Then, early Saturday morning, several Knights braved a crisp, cold morning to place crosses in yards throughout the community as part of their “Lift High the Cross for Lent” initiative. These crosses serve as a visible reminder of the Lenten season and a call to reflect on faith, sacrifice, and hope.

Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for their continued dedication and service to our parish and community!
