Nine Mile United Methodist Church The Nine Mile United Methodist Church is located just 11 miles from the lovely Fort Mountain State Park. We serve Ellijay as the hands and feet of Christ!

As our lay leaders are prone to say, "We're the little church with a big heart!" Why not join us, and see our big heart at work? Though our current building was founded in 1977, the Nine Mile United Methodist Church has a long and interesting history. In earlier days,Nine Mile--along with Gates Chapel, Oak Hill, and Cartecay Methodist Churches--made up the Gilmer Parish. In 1985 the parish was spl

it into two charges--the Gates Chapel/Nine Mile Charge and the the Oak Hill/Cartecay Charge. We invite you to come and be a part our of services of worship. But more than this we hope that you will here experience the grace, the love, and the presence of God.

The Book about Home

Every Sunday we gather around our holy Book of many books. We explore its literary genres and varied voices, its timeless truths and limitless questions. Its themes and topics are countless, of course, but I’m convinced that, through all the grand tales and small moments, through all the poetry and wisdom and even legalese, there moves a recurring idea. Or is it a memory or dream or vision? I only know it’s a place and so much more than a place. It’s home. That’s a big word of four letters—home. It is the place of safety and sometimes fear, nostalgia and a few ghosts, but in the Bible, it seems to me, it is the place forever sought, and, in moments divine or even surprising, sometimes found....

I Am

I am a sinner, a person of unclean lips and impure thoughts. I am flawed, deeply and profoundly. I am a wastrel, squandering my moments, my money, myself, living a half-life of littleness that thinks itself big.
