The services were held in the home of Mother Frances Dumas. Under the watchful guidance of Superintendent Felton Talley, Sr., the transition was made from a bible study to a church. Elder Chapple sought God for a church name and God confirmed the name during bible study. Everyone was asked to place a name in a hat (the updated way of casting lots) and the chosen name was as God had spoken “Latter
Day Ministries Church of God In Christ”. The scripture reference was Job 19:20 which reads: “For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the Latter Day upon the earth”. By faith the ministry purchased a church organ and the first computer and stored it at Pastor Chapple’s house. The vision was unfolding. Having exceeded the capacity of Mother Dumas’ living room and being directed by the Lord, we begin seeking another location. God has instructed that when one place was full, He would provide another. We relocated to 1580 Flat Shoals Road and formed the Latter Day Ministries Church of God In Christ, Inc. The very first service was held without electrical lights, however, God provided the “Son” light. Since that time more souls have been saved and delivered. New members are continually being added to the congregation as well as to the family of Christ. In 1990, the church relocated to 1456 Boulevard SE, Atlanta, Georgia. A week before service the saints united for the cause of painting, carpeting and cleaning pews, which came forth out of the “cow patch”. The church pews were purchased for $50.00! Praise God!! We later purchased new church pews and pulpit furniture. In 1998 the Lord blessed, we purchased our first property at 907 Hill Street, Atlanta, Georgia. The church has always endeavored to reach the community where we serve through “Total Quality Ministry”. We provide kingdom based programs that will minister to the total person; to train and equip leaders who will train others to become leaders, thus fulfilling the mandate of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – to make disciples.
