In Memory of Roy Jarrard
It is with heavy hearts that we remember and celebrate the life of our longtime church family member, Roy Jarrard.
For many years, Roy was a faithful and important part of the life and ministry of Compass Worship. He served in so many ways—through music, teaching, welcoming people at the door, and simply being someone who could be counted on to show up, lend a hand, and be part of this community.
Those who knew Roy knew his love of music, especially the guitar, as well as his love of history, woodworking, and helping others. That servant’s heart extended far beyond the walls of our church. Roy gave his time and leadership to Scouting for many years and volunteered with Samaritan’s Kitchen of Wilkes, continually finding ways to invest in and care for others.
Here at Compass, we will especially remember Roy’s presence.
Church families are built over time by people who faithfully keep showing up—people who teach, play the music, open the doors, welcome others in, serve where they are needed, and become part of the fabric of a congregation. Roy was one of those people.
We are grateful for the years we were blessed to call him part of our church family and for the many ways his life and service helped shape our ministry and community. We surround Joyce and all of Roy’s family with our love and prayers as they grieve this tremendous loss.
Roy’s memorial service will be held Friday, October 2, at 3:30 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning 30 minutes prior to the service.
Roy will be deeply missed, but his years of faithful service, friendship, and ministry will not be forgotten.
Thank you, Roy, for the music, the lessons, the warm welcomes, the helping hands, and the many years you gave to this church family. We are grateful you were part of us.
