God promised to restore Israel not only physically but spiritually as well. He promised a new heart that longed to follow him and his Spirit within to transform and empower them to do his will.
Jesus fulfilled this promise. No matter how sinful or impure your life is right now, God wants to offer you a fresh start. He wants to give you a new heart for Him, and his Spirit to live within you. He loves you just as you are and where you are, but He doesn't want to leave you there. He has a plan for each of us. Jeremiah 29:11 and 3 John 1:2 speak of the goodness God has waiting for his children. Why try to patch up your life when God wants to give you a brand new one?

We've all had our "fourth watch" moments. Maybe it was physical, mental, or financial. Those moments when you're fighting to hold on, trying to see the sunlight, hoping for just a little break of the night. You're stuck in the middle of the sea, too far to turn back but the other side seems impossible. In the middle of of our darkest moments Jesus speaks so calmly "be not afraid," and everything just settles. The storms don't vanish. No, there still there, but now they're under his control. The fourth hour is still very present but somehow it doesn't seem as long or scary when we have Jesus.
Whatever fourth watch you're in, stop and remember that Jesus is with you. Cry out, and he'll speak to your storms and calm them too. Reach for his hand, and he'll pull you out.

God Has a Great Plan Just for You! We need to refrain from comparing ourselves to anyone else because God doesn't want us to be frustrated and feel unworthy of the blessings He desires to give us. Comparing our lives with other people's lives is unfair, to them and to us. It's unfair to them because if we become jealous of what they have, what they know, how they look, etc., we start to resent them. Then we can no longer appreciate them as the wonderful person God made them to be. It's unfair to us because it limits God's plan for our lives. Comparison says to God, 'I want to limit Your work in my life to this and nothing else. I just want to be like this other person.' But God has an individual plan for each of us. His plan for you is greater than you could possibly imagine. Stop looking at His plans for others so you can walk in the plans He has for you and receive the blessings they bring.

The disciples lived with Jesus. They knew him better than anyone else. They had seen his miracles, heard his words, and had shared every moment with him since he called them to be his disciples. And yet they still underestimated him. They couldn't fully comprehend that his power applied to their own dire situation.

We often find ourselves in disbelief of his power when it comes to our own circumstances. So many times we forget the voice that calmed the wind and sea is the same voice that called us by name. The one that breaks chains, that saves from hell, that fights our battles. Jesus is the ONLY one that can take broken people and make them new. Let us stop asking who can and start telling who has!

Hearing is an amazing gift from God. But what you do with what you hear is your gift back to God.
Are we saved by works? No. But are we called to obey? Yes. Empty faith is claims without conduct (no change). God wants us to have faith that works. True commitment to love and serve others is evidence of true faith. This is living faith and it makes the difference. Make sure your faith is more than just a statement. Let your faith take action!.

Life is a mix of emotions and feelings. Daily we encounter advertisments pushing some great new something thats guaranteed to make our lives the best its ever been. Add to the mix all of the unsolicited opinions and the never ending pressures of social media and its no wonder our nation is some form of overwhelmed, burnt out, or depressed. But I have good news. God already knows exactly what you need and he's waiting for you to bring it to him.

David's life wasn't always sunshine and rainbows. In fact he fought depression, self doubt, and anxiety. David poured his heart out to God. He wept, he sang, he rejoiced, and he repented. He continually praised God through good and difficult times of his life. He knew that his hope was never within himself, but was only found in God. His peace wasn't subject to his surroundings or his circumstances, but was rooted and grounded in his relationship with God Almighty. He found reasons to praise and worship despite the storms of life. You see, David knew that by praising God, he was relieving his heart from daily distractions.

When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me the rock that is higher than I. LORD help me to draw closer to you each and every day. Instill in me the desire to pray, to praise, to worship your name even on days when I don't feel like it. LORD let me put you first because you are what I need. Remind me of your goodness and let me lift my praise to you. Amen

God is in Nature

To look into a microscope is to see another universe so small that only the electronic microscope can even find it. For instance, it is revealed that one single snowflake in a snowstorm with millions of other snowflakes is the equivalent of twenty billion electrons. Scientists are learning that the miniature world of a single living cell is as astonishing as man himself. God says that we can learn a great deal about Him just by observing nature. Because He has spoken through His universe, all men are without excuse for not believing in Him.

Delight in Being Wrong

Most of us relish being right. But what if we need to learn to delight in being wrong?

Think about it. When we’re convinced that our perspective is right, we’re not open to listening to others or learning from others. But we often grow the most when faced with new information or new points of view.

We see this play out in Luke 10 when Jesus visits Mary and Martha. Martha is busy cleaning, cooking, and preparing for their visit with the Savior of the world. Meanwhile, her sister Mary gives Jesus her undivided attention, listening to Him and spending time with Him—not helping with the preparations.

Martha is pretty irritated, and soon enough, she confronts Jesus. Martha is convinced she’s right, and her anger backs her up. After all, she’s been doing all the work, and Mary is just sitting around. Surely Jesus will give her the justice she deserves and rebuke Mary, right?

Wrong.

In her anger, Martha didn’t even recognize that she was wrong. She was worked up about something that didn’t really matter, while the person she was angry at was doing the right thing.

Often, the same is true for us.

We convince ourselves that we’re right and they’re wrong, so we’re better and they need to know it. But our perspective is often incomplete.

When we take some time to truly listen to others and listen to God, we might discover that we’re not actually right—or maybe it’s not as black and white as we thought.

And when confronted with that new information, we have a choice. We can get even angrier that we were wrong. Or we can delight in being wrong, choosing to be thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow.

So the next time you come across a view that you disagree with, adopt a growth mindset. Instead of reacting in anger or boosting your pride, consider why someone else has that perspective.

Listening to understand may not change your mind, but it can expand your heart. So instead of dismissing or criticizing someone’s view, choose to show empathy and delight in the fact that we don’t always know whether we’re right, but we can always choose to show love.

Living with No Offense

In this life, there will always be something to be offended about. Whether it’s a divisive news headline, a differing opinion, or a minor traffic incident, we’ll probably have a million reasons to take offense each day.

Think about the last time you took offense at something. Did it make your life better? Or did it make you bitter? And Here’s the thing: A heart filled with anger won’t produce a life filled with peace.

And as we talked about on day one, sometimes our anger is really just a result of our pride. When that happens, we need to repent and remember that Jesus didn’t call us to be right—He called us to love. That doesn’t mean we ignore God’s truth or avoid forming opinions. But it does mean that we choose to be known for our love, not for our stances.

It’s easy to think that the world has become more divided than ever, making it hard to live as unoffendable people. But there have always been reasons to take offense, and Jesus’ disciples were no exception.

Jesus chose 12 disciples from wildly different backgrounds, professions, and political views, and they loved one another. Sure, they had their disagreements—like when they argued about who would be the greatest or most important—but they stayed unified around their mission despite their differing opinions.

Matthew even points this out when he describes Jesus calling His disciples. He makes sure to note his own occupation—tax collector—and calls Simon “the Zealot.”

Simon, as a Zealot, would have been part of a group that desperately wanted to overthrow the Roman government. Meanwhile, Matthew worked for the government. Despite those very different positions, these men were friends. They served together. They ate together. They did life together.

We can learn from their example. We don’t have to agree on everything to be loving. And choosing to put aside our differences allows us to make a difference.

So, what grudges do you need to let go of?

What offenses do you need to lay down?

What anger can you release?

Every minute you spend being angry is a minute of joy and peace you lose. So it’s time to surrender. And it’s time to live with No Offense.
