This Sunday we begin a series called "God’s Shalom for Our Common Home," with the theme Coming to the Water. Pastor Maria writes, "We celebrate God’s good creation and God’s loving hand at work in all our relationships, restoring and renewing. God is good, in God we find what we need, and God is inviting us to come and be fulfilled. Our first step is to acknowledge that we are not, in fact, independent as we might like or might act, but that we become who we are called to be through relationship: with God, with all of creation, by coming thirsty and being satisfied."

Sabbath - celebrating the goodness of life. What does keeping the sabbath day holy, mean to you? Healing a withered hand, restoring sight to the blind, feeding the hungry. Do we care more about obeying the rules vs taking care of our fellow neighbors?
What in our life is withered and needs to be healed?

The Lord has brought you out of slavery. God has broken those bonds and has liberated us. Our God is a God of jubilee and freedom.

We continue to look at the idea of Sabbath, with a service titled "Stopping to Be Free." Pastor Maria has titled her message "Resting for Freedom, Working for Freedom." She writes, "Practicing Sabbath directly opposes other rulers, from whom God has already freed us. Because of God, we are not slaves to productivity, legalism, or any other ruler. In Sabbath we practice our own freedom and the freedom of others, living into a world where all are free."

We recognize that the land on which we stand is God's creation. We also acknowledge that Miami and Potawatomi Peoples lived here long before they were displaced by European settlers. We lament this injustice in our history and commit ourselves to respectful and just relationships.
A people that are at peace with each other - 7 groups and tribes. What can we do to be more whole? If anything is missing, let the Holy Spirit work within us.
A call to lament about the truthfulness of the past, a call to action to seek justice.

Stopping to enjoy - Sabbath Delights. "We can and should control those things around us" ??? Which of you can add a single moment to your life? We do not have control over the sunrise. Busy vs fruitful. We stop working to remember we are NOT God, not in control. Allow God to take over. Give up trying to change things.
