Michiana Emmaus Community

The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual retreat weekend that allows Christians to redefine and strengthen their relationship with Christ.

A 72 hour experience that provides an environment where people may feel free to experience once again, or perhaps for the first time, their relationship with the risen Christ. The weekend affords an opportunity to demonstrate the unconditional love of God who accepts the participants for who and whose they are.

Dear friend,

The Michiana Emmaus Community has been in place since 2000 and has strengthened the spiritual lives of many people.

God has been glorified, worshiped, and praised in many different settings.

However, just as in all volunteer organizations today, we find ourselves putting out “help wanted” signs.

Over the past few years, we’ve asked folks to join the board of directors, attend gatherings and picnics, sponsor or give us names of folks that might want to attend a Walk or Face to Face event.

What was once a full flowing stream, is now nothing but a trickle.

For this organization to continue, we need an infusion of people willing to help.

I know we are all used to getting the “final offer” in the mail, only to have another “final offer” next week.

But this is truly the “final offer”, if you wish to see the Michiana Emmaus Community continue as an organization, we need to hear from you by Tuesday, Jan. 16th.

At that time, there will be a board meeting to discuss the next steps.

Either we’ve got a group of folks willing to be on the Board of Directors and committees or we simply need to dissolve the organization.

If we dissolve, we will no longer be allowed to hold Walks or Face to Face events. As it is today, we do not have a full board and therefore are not allowed to hold the Face to Face event we had wanted to hold in March 2024.

FYI, NIEC is still up and running. If you have someone you’d like to sponsor for their Feb 2024 (or future) walks, please feel free to visit their website at: niemmaus.com.

Cost is 75.00 per pilgrim. Scholarships are available.
Lunch is provided.
Sponsors are not required for pilgrims.

Reminder: Come One Come All!!
When/Where:

Table service will be provided. Please bring a dish to share, we will have Pulled Pork available.

We hope you will attend and bring a friend; it has simply been too long since we saw you.

Please bring a lawn chair and your “Spirit of cooperation and charity” as you did on your initial walk.

Join others that have swayed beside you as we have sung “Sing Alleluia to the Lord”.

We “anticipate” being the hands and feet of Christ as we fellowship with both Emmaus attendees and their friends and family.

As noted in the previous email, if it is raining or sweltering, we will move inside. The expected high temp is 82, based on this, the picnic will be inside the building. Please park and enter at the rear of the building.
