Journey Group Leaders!

I hope all of you are doing well, staying healthy, and going about your day in as much normalcy as possible. God is good and his ministry goes on during these unsure and unknown times. We, as the church, get the opportunity to explore new ways to reach these students that God has entrusted in our care. I am REALLY excited for what we have in store for ECHO Online and what God is going to do through it. I will say this, ECHO Online will only work if we have the buy in of our Journey Group Leaders.

I cannot stress enough how important all of you are to keep your students connected to each other and to a source of spiritual growth that they are used to in their lives. So, after reading this letter, if you have any questions about how we are proceeding with ECHO or have any concerns please reach out to me.

This is what I am asking Journey Group Leaders to do:

1. Download the app “Zoom.”
a. This is a group meeting app. Its free and very simple to use. Moving forward, on Wednesday Nights, you will invite your students from your Journey Group to join a Zoom meeting through the app. Its very simple to use.
i. Download the App and set up a free account.
ii. Get all of your student’s name and numbers in your phone and save the in your contacts.
iii. In the zoom app select “New Meeting.”
iv. Select start a meeting.
v. Click on participants on the bottom of your screen.
vi. Select Invite from the bottom of your screen.
vii. Select “Send Message.”
viii. This next screen brings you to a text message screen where you can select all of your students from your saved contacts.
ix. In the message part of the text, there will be a preloaded link. That is the link that you will send to your students. When they receive the text, all they need to do is click the link and that will open up their zoom app and invite them to your chat.

2. Subscribe to Centrals YouTube Channel
a. ECHO online will be watched through a posted vided on our YouTube channel. Once you subscribe you will receive notifications that a new video has been posted to the channel.
Click the link and it will take you right to our site. Just click the subscribe button.

3. Meet Wednesday Nights starting at 6:50pm. Starting Wednesday March 25th.
a. Send out reminder texts and email throughout the day that you are all meeting via “Zoom” at 6:50.
b. Once all your students are joined in Zoom take the first 10 minutes to chat and see how everyone is doing.

4. While on Zoom, watch the YouTube video that will uploaded for that week.
a. While on Zoom, each you will all go to YouTube and watch the YouTube clip. Have everyone start it at the same time.
b. ECHO will be interactive for you and your group as well as a weekly message and prayer time.

5. Discuss after the video.
a. The video will run about 30 minutes. We will continue with your Walk with Christ to the Cross series.
b. After the YouTube video is over, have as long as a discussion as you want.

6. Post a comment on the YouTube video for prayer.
a. Members of your group can post a comment on the video. The following week, we will prayer for all of those prayer requests from the previous week.

I will be posting a video to our page today explaining this and going over it in more detail. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any contact info for members of your group. I can get you whatever you need! Start chatting today with your kids and get them on board for next weeks launch of ECHO Online!

Lastly, I know that this is a crazy time we are living in, and for some of us the impacts have been far greater than others. If you feel to overwhelmed with things, and ECHO is just too much, I understand. Please do not feel you cannot talk to me about this. We will figure out a plan. I can’t thank all of you enough for what you have given to the lives of these students and for moving forward with the ministry! God is good!

Peace,
Ben

Student Life Update from Ben:

Hey Everyone!

This is a crazy time we are all living in. Unprecedented even. But even through all this unknown, we continue to hold true to our faith in Christ and in His love and promises to all of us! We also continue to do ministry together and grow together in faith. It may look a little different than what we are used to, and I find that really exciting!

Starting today, Monday March 16th, we are cancelling all youth gatherings, programs, and events for the next 8 weeks. After that time, we will reevaluate the current situation. What does this mean? Well, it means that ECHO, Rhythm, and Student Leadership Team will not meet at church weekly. It also means things like Operation Clean Up will be postponed as well as the call nights. Our Rhythm Mystery Day Away will also be postponed till further notice.

Even though weekly on-site gatherings are shutting down, we will continue to “Be, Grow, Serve, and Share” through some new online content that will be launching next week. You will receive more information about what that looks like in the days to come, but by next Wednesday March 25th, we will be ready for our first online gathering for ECHO.

Communication moving forward over the next 8 weeks is going to be SO important. Please be on the lookout for email updates weekly from me. Also, if you do not follow Central on Facebook, please do so. We will be using that platform as a major form of communication over the coming weeks.

God is good! Even when the world around us might seem confusing and fill us with anxiety, fear, and worry, God is still good. And God is at work! I look forward to growing with all of you over the next few weeks. Please know that my office is always open, and I am always here to talk or just listen to those who are in need.

See you soon!

Peace,
Ben
