What a privilege to hear in person yesterday’s keynote presentation on ‘Leaven of Hope: Envisaging and Engendering an Open World” by a De la Salle Brother General Counselor, Brother Chris Patino, FSC. It was a very powerful presentation and thought provoking in how we can instill hope in our personal and congregational experience in religious life. All Souls Day

Oh holy day in our Church's year, a liminal time, a day when we enter a "thin place", when the veil between heaven and earth is very thin. ...

Our Scriptures take up this theme with the words,
"Surrounded as we are, by so great a cloud of witnesses..."
(Heb 12:1).

And we remember them ... family members, friends, loved ones, forgotten ones, the many, many lost in the pandemic and now in ongoing wars...we speak their names today with reverence and gratitude. Be with us in this "thin place", pray for us and lead us to God.

ALEXIAN BROTHERS PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY AT THE CARMELITE RETREAT CENTER The Brothers of the Immaculate Conception Province of the Congregation of Alexian Brothers opened their last night, September 8th, in Darrien, Illinois at the Carmelite Spiritual Center for a week long event. This gathering is for the second time around this year with good representations from the Brothers in Hungary and the Philippines. Aside from their regular fellowship, significant discussions will center on collectively addressing important directions from the recent general council in Seigburg, Germany. A new Provincial leadership will be elected and will serve to culminate the event.

Coinciding with of the liturgical season celebrating the Birth of Mary, the Brothers pray in thanksgiving for its continued blessings especially for its continued growth in years to come. One postulant was inducted to the program during the eucharistic celebration to anticipate its continuing effort to address vocations and formation with in the province.

May the Holy Spirit guide us in our decisions and enliven our spirits in our desire to boldly face the future with greater hope and joy. Thank you for your support and prayers. ARRIVAL OF BROTHERS AND PROVINCIAL PRE-ASSEMBLY FELLOWSHIP As shown below, Brothers from the Philippines and Hungary are arriving to the US for the upcoming Provincial Assemby this September 8-14. There is no better way to celebrate each other than by coming to community prayers and by joining impromptu Filipino Sunday breakfast. Welcome, Brothers Dionisio and Henry from the Philippines and Brother Alexius from Hungary.
