YOU CAN DO THAT by Ed Wrather THAT
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
And strength to your bones. – Proverbs 3:7-8.

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths.
His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
And he is caught in the cords of his sin.
He shall die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. – Proverbs 5:21-23.

In Oklahoma this week there was the odd video of police chasing a man on a stolen ATV who had on handcuffs. The chase went on for some time with the owner of the ATV chasing the stolen ATV in another ATV for a while. There were news choppers following the action keeping the police informed as to the man’s location. He was finally forced to stop and securely arrested. I say “securely” because this all began when the man was being arrested earlier, even being handcuffed, but he escaped which led to the ATV chase. He is being charged with various crimes including felony eluding of law enforcement and of course with stealing the ATV. (kfor 08.10.21; foxnews; msn; yahoo; and almost every other news venue possible.)

Just because you can do something does not necessarily mean that you should do it. Just because you can escape from police custody while you are handcuffed and steal an ATV does not necessarily mean that you should do it. As we can see with the man who stole the ATV it may not end well.

The problem is identified by the King Solomon in Proverbs 3:7 where he says: “Do not be wise in your own eyes.” In the man’s own wisdom, he thought it would be the right thing to do to escape from custody, steal an ATV and lead police on a dangerous chase.

You can be “…wise in your own eyes” do some illegal drugs and die of a fentanyl overdose.

You can be “…wise in your own eyes” get in a vehicle and drive while intoxicated and spend years in prison.

You can be “…wise in your own eyes” rob a bank and spend years in a federal prison or even worse be shot dead on the spot.

You can be “…wise in your own eyes” have s*x outside of marriage contracting a s*xually transmitted disease.

You can be “…wise in your own eyes” and in a fit of rage shoot and kill someone or run someone off the road because they cut you off and kill someone.

To sum this up: you can do that. You can be “…wise in your own eyes” go crazy and do some stupid stuff. You can do that, but it is not going to end well and will ruin your life.

King Solomon tells us very plainly what we ought to do instead of being “…wise in your own eyes.” Solomon gives us the plain truth of the right path to take: “Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.”

Jesus says we ought to always pray. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “pray without ceasing.” The NIV puts this as “pray continually.” The point is that we should not wait until we have an emergency so desperate that we are forced to call 911. We should be praying everyday as if our lives and our futures depend upon it. Because…our lives are in His hands and our God is our Help. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).”

UPDATE 05.06.26: Dennis called this morning and he is back at home. They said that he had had food poisoning. He is not to be driving for now. He still has the pacemaker and defibrillator. Not known whether they will try to do an ablation again. Please continue to pray for him. Thank you for all of your prayers!!!

Please pray for my friend Dennis R. who is at the heart hospital ER in Oklahoma City.

Whatever your discouragement God does have the power to hold you together. It may very well be that out of the blackest day of your life there is a dawn waiting to burst forth. Cast all your cares, all your anxiety, all your worries, all your problems, all your discouragement upon God! That is what God tells us to do in 1 Peter 5:7.

STRANGE THINGS by Ed Wrather

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. – Colossians 2:16-17 NIKJV.

I like the way the NIV puts verse 17:

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. – Colossians 2:16-17 NIV.

Have you heard of Quantum Mechanics? I have heard of it but do not know much about it. Here are some other things related that you might not have heard about:

The Multi-Universe or the Multi-Verse

Cosmic Inflation Model

The Simulation Hypothesis: Are We living in Code? Are You Real?

The Pixelation of Spacetime

Planck scale

The Holographic Principle

I had not heard of most of them either, but you can find out more about these things at 25 science theories that are so strange they must be true by Jonas S.

It is hard for me to wrap my mind around some of the things that scientists are now saying might be true. I’m glad my professor that taught the philosophy course I had to take in college did not know about any of this. Why? Because he could have really messed up my mind if he knew about these things!

There are a lot of things that most of us will never understand fully and I doubt anyone will. If we are living in a Multi-Universe which reality, are we living in and can we be shifted into another reality?

Personally, I am not going to worry about those things because I believe I am in the hands of my Lord and Savior and someday, some bright shining day my reality will be shifted from Planet Earth to Heaven above. I love what the apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 2:17: These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

If we know Jesus as our Savior where or what is our reality? Colossians 2:17 tells us that our reality is in Jesus Christ. My reality since coming to enter into the reality of eternal life through Jesus Christ has been an adventure. It has been a great adventure with things happening that I never thought would occur.

When I was a boy, and when I was a teenager, I could not imagine any of this. I was thinking about it one day at a church camp when I was 14 years old. I was invited to go to a church camp by the church where I was a member. It was an exciting event. While there at the camp, I believe God was speaking to me trying to get my attention.

I remember being off to myself sitting on a picnic table one afternoon. The surroundings were beautiful in a place called Devil’s Canyon, although I think they have a different name for it now. While sitting there I began to think about my future life. What would happen? Where would I go? What would I do? At the time I didn’t think that I would go to college. I thought I would most likely get a job, marry, and have a family. I wanted to make a lot of money and start a business. Then, I would retire early and live on all the money I had made and enjoy life. Finally, as I was looking into the future, I arrived at death. I couldn’t see anything after death, it was just black.

After I have come to know Jesus as my Savior I can see beyond death to Heaven above and know that I have an eternal future. What about you? What will be your reality after death? Please don’t miss out on the glorious future that our loving God can give you. Jesus tells you what to do in John 14:6 as He says “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 3:16 tells us to “believe” upon Jesus Christ to have eternal life.

Have you believed?
