Last Friday members of the Elizabebtown Kentucky Stake had the opportunity to meet with local elected officials as well as Governor Andy Beshear. Elder Nathan Craig, our Area Seventy, had the chance to present a Book of Mormon to Governor Beshear.

The Stake Presidency and others from the Stake attended and helped organize efforts as partvof this large project to introduce ourselves to our elected officials and inform them of how our congregations can help them in our local communities. There were members from every stake in Kentucky in Frankfort to speak with their local leaders. In these meetings, topics discussed included JustServe and Church grants.

In efforts to serve our communities in more helpful ways these meetings with our elected officials was an important first step to helping our communities.

The Elizabethtown Ward chose to as they gathered to have a musical celebration outside at The Emerald Cathedral. Those passing by on the trail were witness to the primary, youth and ward choir as they sang and testified of the birth of Christ.

" As a branch council we decided to make and decorate ornaments for every family in our branch. We are going to hand deliver all these ornaments. It’s a little token of how much we love and miss some of our members. It’s our way of sharing the light of Christ." -President Ethridge from Tompkinsville.

A great article by The News Enterprise. https://www.thenewsenterprise.com/news/local/local-church-encourages-members-other-to-fast-for-relief/article_0be1a1d7-ef48-5ce7-9a93-2ea3b2e08d23.html A great reminder of how we can help those around us who are struggling to put food on their families table. Partnering with Give270 to allow a easy way for community members to fast for two meals and donate what we would have spent to help those in need to great Hardin County organizations that are fighting hunger like Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland, Helping Hand of Hope (Helping Hand & North Hardin HOPE) and Warm Blessings Community Kitchen.

A local congregation is letting its light shine and is inviting others to join the cause.
