Good morning, West Green Tree family.
Before you come in today, I'd love for you to read Genesis 24 on your own... yes, the whole chapter. It's the longest one in the book, and there's something in it I think you'll want to notice for yourself before I point it out this morning.
Here's a hint: pay attention to how many times "the LORD" shows up. Count it if you want. It might surprise you.

NEXT STEP
Yesterday we saw something easy to miss in Abraham's story.
The Hittites gave Abraham something he needed: someone willing to say the true thing out loud.
Sometimes we need that person, too.
Someone who will tell us what is true when we may not see it clearly. Someone who will speak honestly, lovingly, and faithfully into our lives.
Who is that person for you this week?
And maybe the harder question:
Are you that person for someone else?

Pay attention to the people God has placed around you. Speak what is true. Speak it with love.

Yesterday was one of the best mornings of the year 🙏 we baptized Cadence, Haley, and Nick into the family of faith.
We moved from our sanctuary into the fellowship hall together as a whole church, because baptism isn't a private moment here - it's a covenant the whole congregation witnesses and shares in. As Brethren, we baptize by trine immersion: three times forward into the water, once in the name of the Father, once in the name of the Son, and once in the name of the Holy Spirit - a practice that traces back to the very beginning of our movement in 1708.
Before they entered the water, Cadence, Nick, and Haley shared their journeys with us -honest, vulnerable stories of where God has met them and how far He's brought them. There were certainly tears. Watching them come up out of that water afterward, knowing what it means - cleansing, new life, a covenant made public, a beginning of a lifelong journey of faith - is why we do what we do.

Sunday, Haley, Nick, and Cadence will do more than know something about Jesus. They'll step into the water and declare it.
And afterward, we'll do what the church in Acts 2 did — break bread together. We're celebrating with a potluck, so bring something tasty to share.
Don't just show up and watch. Stand when it happens. Find their families afterward. Tell them you're glad they're here. Let's devote ourselves, like the church in Acts 2, to the same thing they're saying yes to.
