Adult Faith Formation Opportunities!

SPECIAL Discovery Class–Folks ages 12 and older who are new to or experienced with handbells are invited to this session which offers a hands-on exploration of the essential techniques every ringer needs to know. Class limited to 15 ringers. Please email Jeff Clouser at [email protected] to reserve your spot and indulge your curiosity

Bible Explorations–This intergenerational adult class will focus upon questions such as: Do you want to know more about the Bible? If so, what about the Bible would you like to learn? Chalkboard Chat–This is an unstructured class to meet in for conversation. Each week prompts will appear on the Chalkboard that can be used to inspire dialogue. (Room 110)

Sip N’ Chat–Located in Memorial Lobby this time will offer an informal space for those just looking to gather with some coffee and conversation during the Faith Formation Hour.

Sermon Series: Summer Vacation

And finally, beginning on August 2, we will wrap up our “Summer Vacation” by spending a few weeks “At the Beach”! Our focus will be on stories that take place on the shore of rivers or seas. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

On this last week of our summer vacation together "at the beach," we will read about Jesus' appearance to the disciples on the shore of the Sea of Tiberius as told in the Gospel of John. Jesus helps them catch fish - 153 fish, to be exact - and prepares breakfast with them. What an interesting number, and what an ordinary activity, eating breakfast! Perhaps the abundance of God's sacred care shows up in ordinary places, indeed.

This Sunday we continue our sermon series "Summer Vacation: At the Beach." The baptism of Jesus takes place in the River Jordan, likely with witnesses gathered along the shore of the river. This all takes place quite suddenly in the opening chapter of the Gospel of Mark, so we don't have a lot of details. Jesus is baptized, he comes out of the water, and goes right into the wilderness. Baptism is merely just the beginning of our journey, and not the end. Please feel free to join us after church for a river baptism of our own.
