Our Prayers are being answered. Here is an update from Chris Sheilds and Tim. Be sure and read to the bottom of the post for Tim's comments.

In Home Care (December 15 – 12:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST): It has officially been 85 days and 84 nights since Tim has been home. He arrived home at 2:00 PM EST on December 15th. This day is a day for celebration!

- Phase 3 of Tim’s recovery journey has officially begun. His bedroom has been rearranged to support his continued at-home care. He has a home-care team assigned to him and they visit the house all throughout the day at their appointed times.

- His intake appointments happened today after he arrived home. He is still on a medicine routine for his stomach, shoulder wound, and various other issues.

- He’s actually home!!!

Love,

-Chris

Some Thoughts from Tim:

"We thought the day would never come, but I’m finally home. It’s almost been a full 3 months and God’s hand has been evident in every step. I am now eating real food. And tonight I get to sleep in my own bed. We [the family] feel really blessed for this transition and we’ll fill you in with more information soon."

Great news! Tim is going home from the hospital today. The hole in his esophagus has healed. He is eating solid foods. And he is regaining strength rapidly.
He will soon be back to work and moving the mission forward.
Praise God!

Tim Shields Health update 11/15/2021
Tim has improved greatly over the last couple of weeks. He has been transferred to a rehab facility close to home. The usual stay at this facility is 2 to 4 weeks. Hopefully Tim will be able to continue his rehab from home mid-December.
He is receiving his nutrition through a feeding tube at this time to give his esophagus time to heal.
We hope to see Tim resume his duties as director of the mission late December early January.
Keep Tim in your prayers as he continues to heal.
Pray for the Mission as work continues on the Bethel school in Guinea-Bissau and the mission to Goa goes into full swing.

Meet Our Acting Director
Our acting director, Dwayne Dickson, has been on the board of Hisportic Christian Mission for over 20 years.
Dwayne is the lead pastor of First Christian Church in Mountain City, Tennessee. He has been the pastor of FCC for 23 years. In the past Dwayne has been on the executive committee and chairman of the board of Cornerstone Village. He currently serves on the executive board of the Pregnancy Support Center of Johnson County, president of the Johnson County Ministerial Alliance, Health Council of Johnson County, and GoJoCo (a health initiative for Johnson County, TN).
Dwayne began serving on the board of HCM while Wayne Long, the founder of the mission, was director. He has served while the reigns of HCM were handed down to the next two directors. Dwayne played an instrumental part of a church plant in the Atlanta, GA region.
The HCM board believes Dwayne has the knowledge, experience and drive to not only see the mission through this time, but to handle any needs that may come up while Tim is recovering.

Health Update on HCM Director Timothy Shields:
The Board of Hisportic Christian Mission felt that we should give our supports an update on the health of our Director, Tim.
Tim has faced a terrible health battle over the past month and a half. He had a tear in his esophagus that led to sepsis and over a month in ICU fighting for his life.
The good news is that Tim, through the grace of God, seems to be winning this battle. He was recently admitted to a rehabilitation center in the area and is gaining strength every day.
We appreciate Tim’s service to HCM greatly. Under his leadership we are expanding the goals of the mission in incredible ways. We have expanded our work in Guinea-Bissau, have started a new work in Goa, India, and are looking at new fields such as an island in Southeast Asia called East Timor. In 2020 he led our first short-term mission trip to Guinea-Bissau, Africa with plans to increase the number of trips in the future.
We are looking forward to Tim regaining his strength and returning to his role as the director of HCM.
But until that happens, the board of HCM has appointed an acting director to carry on the day to day work of the ministry until Tim is able to resume his role as director. This also opened up our eyes to the need to have a policy in place that would ensure the health and longevity of the mission if a director of the mission became unable to fulfill that role.
After drawing up this policy at our annual board meeting last month the HCM board asked Dwayne Dickson to become the acting director of the mission until such time as Tim is able to resume the leadership of the mission.
We ask that you would keep Tim and his wife Rachel in your prayers. Please pray for a quick recovery. Pray for wisdom for our acting director, Dwayne. And pray for the work of the mission which has and will continue to expand around the globe.

Update from Goa, India Project
Pastor Luciano Pinheiro

Pastor Luciano Pinhero sent the following article and pictures for this month's update to HCM supporters and friends.

We as Pinheiro family continue praying and trusting Timothy will overcome the situation he is facing right now. He is a blessing to us and we miss him a lot.
We continue our work in Goa believing that the fruits will come in time. We are grateful to all brothers and sisters who have invested in this ministry through prayers and offerings. In November, Indians celebrated Diwali, the most popular festival in Hinduism with an official duration of five days. Most families travel to their villages and towns for a minimum of two weeks to celebrate it with their families.
Our Sunday services are on standby as all the families we work with have gone to celebrate Diwali in their homeland. But we continue our work with the children, the sewing classes, and also with NewCycle.
If possible, we want to host a Christmas dinner for these families, but we will need finances for that. If you want to participate by giving a gift for the Christmas party, your gift will be welcomed and will bless these families.
Adriana learned to make a nutritious porridge that takes around 10 grains and also some nuts. All ingredients are crushed and served with milk. We have used this recipe to serve the children who live in the community where NewCycle is established. And also to the children we already work with on Sunday services. For now we serve it two times a week, but our goal is to serve 6 times a week. We have also been teaching Bible studies, handcrafts and choreographies. The aim is to hold a Christmas party where children will perform choreographies for their parents. The songs are all Christian. And we will use this day to talk about Jesus to these families, as it is a very favorable date for that.
Adriana continues to teach her students how to cut and sew and after classes she has always visited their homes and has been a blessing. She has the challenge of making her students aware of personal hygiene. She has been teaching them to make reusable pads, because these girls cannot afford disposable pads.
New Cycle is still getting established. We were able to sell the press machine that we had bought at the beginning but which was not ideal for the work we were doing. We’ve already bought another one that has the capacity to produce what we need. So as soon as the new press arrives, we will be delivering the one we sold. Despite this difficulty, we continue to work and invest in the lives of NewCycle’s laborers, who have already been impacted by the way we treat and value them.
Pray for the Christmas celebrations. We want to have a dinner and bless these families.
Pray for wisdom for Adriana to reach the hearts of her students.
Pray for families to return from the Diwali festival.
Pray for the new press to arrive so that we can generate more jobs at NewCycle and bless more families
In Christ

Here is a testimony from Ana who is on a short-term mission trip to Guinea-Bissau. A great testimony about the work we are doing in Africa. (If you are interested in a short-term mission trip to Guinea-Bissau, private message me and we will give you information about upcoming trips.)

Ana Paula Dourado

GOD FINDS AND BRINGS CHILDREN - testimony!
Many people think that a school's work is social only. But on missions nothing is or at least shouldn't be social. Our goal is to get people to heaven. It's preaching the gospel of Jesus, which transforms and saves.
In the case of Guinea Bissau, Betel Christian School is one of our tools to bring children to the knowledge of Jesus. By means of the Educational Approach by Principles (CEPOL), we teach our children to see the world by Christ's optics. They learn all the subjects based on the Word of God. And that makes all the difference.
I wanted to share with you the testimony of my 5th grader, Flaviana (featured in the photo). She entered school about five years ago (when missionary Adriana got here), pre-class. A pastor's niece, she was put to school to have a good study and, above all, to know God. In his home, no one was a Christian. Over time, the gospel entered her heart, she began wanting to go to church and was taken by her mother. And the Holy Spirit worked so hard that his mother and brothers were reached and finally his father, who was recently baptized. A child touched by God, who led his whole family to Christ.
This is why we are here. This is why we are dedicated. God wants to meet the little ones of Guinea Bissau and their families. It's worth it! Pray for this project. For teachers and children. So that God may have several meetings and change the destinies and that these children may be filled with the grace and knowledge of the Lord. You can also be part of what God is doing here.
