As you know, I work with the individuals who suffer from substance use disorders and often individuals coming home after a period of incarceration.
One of the concerns we try to address is the socialization of indivduals who feel shamed by their past life. As a result they are relunctant to engage with new company...the very company that can help them transition into their next chapter.

True Word, in partnership with the Salvation Army, has initatied a Dominoes Tornamant. This helps us find fun ways to introduce individuals to new people and engage with them without the pressures of the church environment.

It is a fundraiser event. The Salvation Army host the community shleter. TW does community outreach ... and we are also fundraising for a new sound system in the sanctuary.

We were able to assess the fundraising goals such that we reduced the team fee form 100.00 to 50.00 per team. Not for them, but that you may sponsor a team from the shelter or the community of individuals who just needs to have a nice environment to simply smile without the pressures of life...even if it is just for a moment..

After some discussion and key people out of town ( including myself), it was decided to give everyone time away.

Good afternoon Facebook Family

Please see the attached flyer for the reentry simulation hosted by the Union County Reentry Task Force and Kean University.

This simulation is helpful toward understanding the obstacles of individuals returning home after a period of incarceration.
In this simulation, you get to play the returning citizen. It is all set up...with jail and everything (just in case you violate probation/parole).

The question we want to ask you afterwards is how you navigated the system as you were being released and now, trying to rebuild your life.
It's a fun day, but it is also very frustrating when you realize how often unnecessarily difficult it was to get the things you needed.

You smile though, because, for you, it was just a game. Then you frown because you realize, for those living it, it's a game of a lifetime.

It still takes a village. Register and come join us.
