Our thoughts and especially prayers go out to Grace Maxwell’s family and the Cedarville University family. Grace was a CU student, a junior, who was on the plane that crashed Wednesday evening in Washington, DC. She was heading back to campus after being home in Wichita, Kansas for her grandfather’s funeral. We watched the CU chapel service this morning as Dr. White, President, gave a message of hope and comfort to a grieving student body. To hear them respond in reverent worship to God was very moving.

In Southern California, six GARBC churches are near the wildfire areas.

Of those churches, Bible Baptist Church in Santa Monica is closest to the Palisades fire but is not in an evacuation zone.

Five additional churches—Bible Baptist in Oak View, Trinity Baptist in Pasadena, Santa Clarita Baptist Church, Carpinteria Valley Baptist Church, and Thousand Oaks Baptist Church—are close to the fire areas, so these churches “may have members that are impacted,” says Norman Walker, state representative of the California Association of Regular Baptist Churches.

“My wife and I have been through two evacuations for wildfires in Northern California, so we are very familiar with the process,” Norman says. “Many of the needs won't be apparent until after the fires are out. The CARBC will be getting in touch with our So Cal churches to determine how we may be able to help with community outreach and disaster relief if needed.”

Retired OARBC Pastor Bruce Snyder went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday of this week. He pastored in Ohio at Faith--Elida, Maranatha--Columbus, and Emmanuel--Toledo.
A Celebration of Life service is being held tomorrow, Sunday, January 28 at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist in Toledo.
