This Sunday, we continue our study on what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth, and how that truth shapes the whole of the Christian life.

Last week, we laid the foundation by seeing that access to God is not tied to a place, but is granted through Christ alone. Because of His finished work, we are brought near to God and can worship Him wherever we are.

We also saw that because God is spirit, true worship must flow from a regenerated heart: one marked by sincerity, humility, and a genuine desire to know Him and glorify Him. Outward expression can never replace inward reality; external form is empty if the heart is far from God.

And because God has revealed Himself in truth, our worship must be governed by His Word. Scripture is the final authority over what we believe and how we live before Him. Therefore, every area of life is to be shaped by His truth rather than our preferences or traditions.

When God is rightly worshiped in spirit and in truth, according to who He is and what He has revealed, it brings Him glory, strengthens His people, and produces deep, enduring joy in the believer.

Over the next several weeks, we will be walking through how this calling is lived out in three primary spheres of life: the individual, the family, and the church.

However, in these first weeks, we will focus specifically on the individual life. We will begin with the believer’s private devotion: our personal walk with God in prayer, Scripture, and communion with Him. From there, we will move into our relationships, then our public conduct, and finally how the individual life carries into and strengthens our participation in the church.

This progression matters, because weakness or confusion in the individual life inevitably affects every other sphere.

We would love for you to join us as we grow together in these truths.

May the peace of God, and of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, be with you all.

After the joy of Resurrection Sunday, we return to the Gospel of John.

This Lord’s Day, we will be in John 4:19–26, listening in on Jesus’ tender and revealing conversation with the Samaritan woman—a reminder that our Lord meets sinners where they are, and gently leads them to truth.

In this passage, Jesus draws her away from questions of place, tradition, and division, and directs her to what truly matters: a heart that worships God in spirit and truth.

What a comfort this is for us. The Father is not seeking perfect people, but true worshipers—those who come through Christ, made alive by His Spirit, resting in His truth.

No matter your past, your background, or your struggles, you are invited to come. Through the risen Christ, the barriers are torn down, and the way to the Father is open.

Join us this Lord’s Day as we sit under God’s Word and behold the grace of our Savior.

This Sunday, we will be stepping away briefly from our study through the Gospel of John to focus on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The resurrection is not a distant doctrine; it is the very ground of our assurance. Because He lives, we know that His sacrifice was accepted, our sins are truly forgiven, and death has been defeated.

“Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.” (Romans 8:34, LSB)

We will consider how the resurrection anchors our assurance of salvation and how God’s Law continues to serve us in three ways:

• As a mirror, revealing our sin and driving us to Christ
• As a restraint, curbing evil in the world
• As a guide, directing the believer in grateful obedience

Come and be reminded that our confidence is not in ourselves, but in the finished work of Christ, crucified and risen. And as those who have been raised with Him, we now walk in newness of life, not to earn salvation, but because it has been secured.

Join us this Lord’s Day as we rejoice in the empty tomb and rest in the full assurance that belongs to all who are in Christ.

Last week, we saw Jesus as the Living Water—the only One who can truly satisfy the thirsty soul (John 4:10–15).

This week, we continue in John 4:15–19 as we consider: Dealing with Sin.

We live in a culture that no longer speaks about the seriousness of sin. Sin is minimized, ignored, or even celebrated—but the reality remains: sin separates us from God and leaves us burdened with guilt and shame.

In this passage, Jesus does what our world so often refuses to do: He lovingly brings sin into the light. Not to shame, but to restore. Not to condemn, but to heal.

Before we can experience the fullness of the living water, we must first deal with what is keeping us from it.

Join us this Sunday as we see how Christ confronts sin with truth and grace, and why He alone is the only remedy for our guilt, our shame, and our separation from God.

Last week, we saw Jesus as the Evangelist in John 4:1–10:
caring for the lost, crossing boundaries, and communicating the good news.

This week, we continue the story in John 4:10–15, turning our focus to Jesus, the Living Water.

At Jacob’s well, a weary Savior offers something far greater than physical relief. He offers living water: the only water that truly satisfies the thirsty soul.

We live in a world full of empty wells: things we run to, hoping they will satisfy, yet always leave us thirsting for more. But Jesus declares that He alone gives water that becomes “a spring…to eternal life.”

Join us this Sunday as we see:
• The gift of God
• The identity of Christ
• The satisfaction found only in Him

Come and hear the One who alone can quench your soul.

This Sunday, we will continue our study through the Gospel of John with John 4:1–10, beginning an eight-part series titled “The Woman at the Well.”

Part one is “Jesus the Evangelist.” In this passage, we see Jesus intentionally pursuing the lost as He meets the Samaritan woman at the well. We will consider how Christ cares for the lost, crosses cultural and social boundaries, and communicates the Good News.

Join us as we begin this powerful section of Scripture and learn from Christ Himself what true evangelistic compassion and faithfulness look like.

At Type Church, we are committed to preaching from a confessional Reformed and covenantal perspective, fully believing that the Bible is the supreme rule of faith and life. Every week, our pastor, Jeff Pekar, faithfully unfolds God’s Word verse by verse, helping us understand Scripture in its original context and showing how it points to Christ and His redemptive work.

Expositional preaching is not just for knowledge; it is for transformation. By studying Scripture in depth:

We grow in faith, seeing God’s plan from Genesis to Revelation.

We learn to live according to God’s Word, making practical decisions that honor Him at home, at work, and in our community.

We develop a Christ-centered worldview, understanding all of life in light of God’s covenant promises.

We build a healthy, thriving church, as every member is equipped to serve and love others biblically.

In a world full of competing voices, expositional preaching anchors us in truth, clarity, and the gospel. It strengthens our faith, guides our daily choices, and equips us to walk faithfully before God in every area of life.

Whether you are new to the faith or have walked with the Lord for decades, you will find encouragement, instruction, and spiritual nourishment here.

This week in John 3:22–30, we focus on John the Baptist’s words: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” As Jesus rises in ministry, John joyfully steps aside. True joy and faithful living come when Christ is exalted above ourselves. Let’s ask: Is Christ increasing in our lives today?

Hope to see you there!

This week, we continue in John 3, considering verses 9–21.

After hearing of the necessity of the new birth, Nicodemus asks, “How can these things be?” (John 3:9). In this passage, Jesus moves from the necessity of regeneration to the heart of the gospel itself.

We will see that the new birth is not disconnected from Christ, but grounded in Him. Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life (John 3:14–15).

In these verses, we come to one of the clearest declarations of God’s saving love in all of Scripture: “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16). Yet we will also see the sobering reality of judgment: light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light (John 3:19).

This week we will consider:

The rebuke of spiritual ignorance (vv. 9–13)
The lifting up of the Son of Man (vv. 14–15)
The love of God in the giving of His Son (v. 16)
The necessity of faith in Christ alone (vv. 17–18)
The tragedy of unbelief and the exposure of the human heart (vv. 19–21)

We will see that eternal life is found in Christ alone, received by faith alone, and that unbelief is not a lack of evidence but a love for darkness.

Come ready to behold Christ lifted up: the only Savior of sinners.
We hope to see you there. Bring a friend.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jeff
