The Elgin Valley Fox Trot is taking place this Sunday, May 31. 🦊🏃‍♀️

The following streets will be closed to motor vehicles from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

- N Grove Avenue (from Ann Street to Slade Avenue)
- River Bluff Road (from Slade Avenue to Prospect Blvd)
- Prospect Street (from River Bluff Road to Congdon Avenue)
- Congdon Avenue (from Prospect Street to Bellevue Avenue)
- Cedar Avenue (from Congdon Avenue to northbound dead end)
- Bellevue Avenue (from Congdon Avenue to Cooper Avenue)
- Cooper Avenue (from Bellevue Avenue to Brook Street)
- Brook Street (from Cooper Avenue to River Bluff Road)

Detour and no parking signs have been placed.

Sometimes the hardest part of sharing our faith is not knowing how to respond when difficult questions come up.

Tonight in Living a Contagious Faith, we’ll explore the Reason-Giving style—learning how to thoughtfully and graciously engage questions about faith, doubt, and Christianity.

This isn’t about winning arguments or having all the perfect answers. It’s about:
🧠 Understanding why we believe
👂 Listening with humility
💬 Having respectful conversations with people who think differently
📖 Becoming more prepared and confident in our faith

Some of us feel nervous because we don’t know what to say. Others feel passionate about their faith but worry about coming across too strong. Wherever you are, you’re not alone.

So proud of Jennifer Haley as she helps launch the Game On, Elgin: The Places and Players of Our City exhibit!

As a lifelong member of First UMC and co-chair of our Governance Board, Jen continues to help tell the rich story of our community in meaningful ways.

It’s fascinating to discover how many world-class athletes, teams, and sports traditions have roots right here in Elgin — and how local businesses like the Elgin Watch Factory once sponsored handball, baseball, and basketball leagues that brought the community together.

Congratulations to Jennifer Haley and her partner Ron Lange on this incredible work celebrating the history, spirit, and people of our city. Way to go!
