3 THINGS THAT HELP ANYONE OPEN UP TO YOU

3 things decide whether someone keeps talking: Genuine curiosity, active listening, and zero judgment.

Start with curiosity that's actually genuine. We can be fake curious and add small talk with nothing underneath.

Jesus was masterful here. He noticed people, and He asked amazing questions. His question-to-answer ratio in Scripture is about four to one.

Active listening comes next. Ask, then have a follow-up ready. Don't move on too quickly.

When you listen and engage with people, it has to be more than asking a question and moving on, but listening and finding out what makes this person unique.

Zero judgment might matter most. When people share their story, they're taking a risk.

There's no place for correction in that moment. So we've got a choice: come down on them, or stay in the seat of curiosity.

SCARED TO BRING UP GOD? REMEMBER THIS:

Most of us are scared to have spiritual conversations with people.

We overcomplicate it, assuming we need every answer lined up before we open our mouths.

As you build a relationship with someone, they're interested in one thing: Whether you love them or not.

Not having an answer costs less than you think. If you don't have it, you still know someone, or a place, where you can go get it.

That takes the pressure off. You don't have to carry the weight of knowing everything.

Paul reminded the Thessalonians of his visit in 1 Thessalonians 2:8: "We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God's good news, but our own lives too."

So how do you build that kind of relationship? You share your life, and you let people see that you love them.
