Joplin House 2013

Joplin House 2013 Follow along as we build a house in the basement of our church! Countless volunteer hours have helped rebuild and restore the area.

Also, an excellent video to document the task:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVxuT_gyON4 The F-5 tornado that devastated the town of Joplin, MO in 2011 left many families without their homes. However there is still a high demand for better living accommodations. In an effort to maximize the impact

of a trip down there we decided to be proactive--we're building a house in the basement of our church. The objective is to take the partially assembled house and drive it to MO, finishing the assembly on-site. Here are some inspirational links to other sites devoted to rebuilding Joplin:

Dear Youth and Adults who worked, toiled, cried, sweated, passed out and nailed thumbs,
The Joplin house has been completed by other groups working with Rebuild Joplin since we left in June. I think we can now start calling it Emily's house, because after all it is hers now. The efforts you all gave, the love poured out to make this project a reality has been truly inspiring. Not just for us who were involved in the planning and initial build but for the people who followed us. Various groups worked for the rest of this summer to make this house project an awe inspiring event. My hope and prayers are for God to direct and inspire other groups to take on a project of this magnitude then bring it to completion. As Tom Ostrander said today: "We need to do the Gospel not just talk about it.
On Thursday September 26th Rebuild Joplin is having an official dedication of the house presenting Emily with the keys to the house. And hopefully the giant scissors.
Mark, Justin, Pastor Robert and I are flying down to Joplin to be part of this event. We will present her with a quilt made by the UMW group and a group photo of us on our first day building. The use of a 4 seat plane has been graciously provided for our use by Mark's employer as long as we purchase the fuel. It is with regret that more people could not be present for this dedication. However the logistics of getting to Joplin for a half hour event would have been too much. I'll take plenty of pictures.
Please continue to pray for Emily and our group (of youth and adults) as we see what adventures God has in store for us this coming year.
Peace,
Keith
