As we celebrate the work of so many who keep our communities strong, we also remember something Pastor Jarrod reminds us often — even Jesus took a nap.

Rest isn’t a luxury; it’s holy.

Whether you’re serving, traveling, or simply catching your breath this holiday weekend, may you find renewal in the gift of rest.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Wishing you a safe, refreshing, and restorative Labor Day.

Be honest — do you ever feel like you have to earn God's love? Like if you prayed more, served more, finally got it "right," then you'd deserve it?

Ephesians 2:8 says grace is a gift, "not by works, so that no one can boast." Not earned. Not repaid. Just received.

What would actually change this week if you believed that?

The Friday of the month, a group from Journey of Hope heads to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church to help serve a hot meal through Soup Kettle — no experience needed, just a willingness to show up. It's one of the most tangible ways we live out this week's sermon: love isn't just something we receive, it's something we get to give away.

This Friday, September 4th, from 4:00-6:00 PM, we could use a few more hands. Comment below or message the church office and we'll get you plugged in.

Two sons. One father. Two very different ways of getting God wrong.

Sunday, Pastor Jarrod walked us through Luke 15 — the prodigal son — and one line kept surfacing all week: neither son actually believed the father's love was free. One thought he'd forfeited it. One thought he'd earned it. Both were wrong.

Wherever you land in that story today, here's the good news: the Father is already running toward you.

What's one thing you're still trying to "earn" from God that He's already freely given you?
