6-7-26 The Judgement Seat of Christ

"So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God." -- In our recently concluded study in the book of Romans, we were given this promise that should give not just every Christian pause, but every living person on the planet. The Bible tells us of three future occasions when Jesus will preside as judge of His created beings; once when He evaluates each member of the Christian church, from Pentecost to the rapture; another when He separates the sheep from the goats at the close of the seven-year Tribulation; and then a third judgment after Christ's thousand-year reign on earth, before the new heaven and new earth, when all those who have never repented, surrendered, and believed in Him will stand before Him as Jesus passes judgment. -- "The Judgment Seat of Christ" is the message this Sunday, part of our worship service which begins at 10:45. Over the past several weeks at Coryville Church of Faith we have explored what one commentator labeled, "The pattern of sanctification", found in Paul's epistle to the church in Rome. From the instructions to offer our lives as a living sacrifice and to be transformed by the renewing of our mind --- to the mandates we're to submit to those in authority and love our neighbor, the apostle's inspired words clearly outline God's expectations for His children. He also warned against passing judgment on others in the faith when it's a disputable matter and cautioned mature Christians to not be a stumbling block to those who are weak in their faith. This Sunday we'll conclude this 71-verse tutorial that Paul assures his readers that "anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God." In Paul's letter to the church at Philippi he wrote, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves". This week at Coryville Church of Faith we return to the book of Romans as we wrap up chapter 14, where the church is being guided into proper conduct that is "pleasing to God and respected by men ". Happy Mother's Day! It was Abraham Lincoln who said, "I remember my mother's prayers, and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life". This Sunday at Coryville Church of Faith, we'll look to The Book and a story of a caring mother who was deeply concerned about her child and knew she needed to speak to The One who could help. With unwavering faith, and perseverance to match, she cries out, "Lord, help me! ".
