What is a Seven Church Pilgrimage?

After the Mass of the Lord’s Supper (Holy Thursday), many churches remain open for exposition of the Blessed Sacrament so that worshippers can pray, reenacting the actions of the apostles in the Garden of Gethsemane, whom Jesus told, “Remain here and keep watch with me” (Mt 26:38). This tradition is credited to St. Philip Neri and his friends who would prayerfully join together to go on a "pilgrimage" to seven churches. It came out of a desire to increase prayer and keep watch with Jesus through the night. By keeping with this custom, we become pilgrims staying with Christ in the Garden and consoling him in his agony. This pilgrimage allows one to figuratively walk with Jesus on his path toward his crucifixion, death and resurrection. What a special event to plan with your family and make this Easter Triduum more meaningful.

The Seven Stations: stops commonly mirror: 1. The Cenacle to Gethsemane, 2. Gethsemane to Annas, 3. Annas to Caiaphas, 4. Caiaphas to Pilate, 5. Pilate to Herod, 6. Herod back to Pilate, 7. Pilate to Calvary.

Quite a busy weekend for Coucil 17360! On Saturday we held an exemplification for our new members and on Sunday we had a pancake breakfast in partnership with the St. Gall Respect Life Ministry benefiting Waterleaf Women’s Center. Plus, we finished our Tootsie Roll Drive benefiting adults with intellectual disabilities and a membership drive welcoming new Knights into the council. There’s a nap out there for more than a few of us! Thank you to all the parishioners who came out to support the Knights this weekend.

It was a great night for Council #17360 presenting a check to Valley Sheltered Workshop in Batavia, IL. VSW began more than fifty years ago as a small workshop where adults with disabilities could take part in meaningful work. What started with a handful of participants and simple tasks has grown into a vibrant community center filled with learning. KOC #17360 is proud to be a supporter of this amazing organization.

Our Council 17360 Knights were busy this weekend helping to kickoff Right to Life Month. On Saturday many of our bother Knights came out to assist the parish Right to Life Ministry in setting up the crosses representing the lost lives due to abortion. On Sunday our brother Knights returned joining in on the life chain along Route 47. Thank you brothers for sacrificing some weekend time for this important cause!

It’s always a great night when the Knights of Columbus Council 17360 and St Gall Respect Life ministry are handling out checks from recent fundraising events. On this night Beautiful U Ministries of Elburn and Corbella Clinic of South Elgin were the beneficiaries. Thank you to all involved on this wonderful evening.
