If you do not know what kind of snake this is/was, unfortunately, study it. Learn what it's markings look like. Notice the shape of its head. This is/was an Eastern King Snake. It is not dangerous to us. In fact they eat snakes, lizards and rodents. They are resistant to the venom of pit vipers and often eat copperheads, cottonmouths and rattlesnakes. Please don't harm them. They are our snake friends and will normally be on their way if left alone.
